Editorial Reviews

From the Author

This book represents some of the wonderful moments captured in the last two years of photographing weddings. I have seen so much love and emotion, and have felt such a part of these moments that I feel truly blessed. I offer the book in hopes that you too can feel the essence of love in the photos, and subsequently in your life.

About the Author

Phyllis Lane has been a photographer for twelve years starting out with photojournalism – with the subject being different cultures from around the world. She chose photography because she loves connecting to other people, and with her camera she learned she was able to show the essence of these intimate connections.

Phyllis began fashion photography during her travels in Australia. She was asked by one of the modeling agencies to photograph for them, and from there became a photographer full-time. Completely self-taught and self-motivated, she began to shoot commercial, advertising and editorial work. All of her work is motivated by the philosophy of capturing life as it is, as it happens; surrendering instead of trying to control. This approach has allowed her to trust the process and as a result create beautiful photographs. She uses her journalism skills to capture the brief moments of an event that most miss. In addition, she calls upon her fashion skills to create authentic beauty.

Phyllis has photographed for clients such as Nike, Bum Equipment, ROI, Henry Grethel, Mayo-Clinic, United Way, and many others.

Phyllis' philosophy is that if a photograph makes you laugh, if a photograph makes you cry, or if a photograph touches your heart, then it’s a great photograph!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great but Small, August 28, 2003

This review is from: The Essence of Love (Hardcover)
I had high hopes for this book when I ordered it. Figuring it was a nice coffee table or studio office book to have laying around. I was quite surprised when I opened the delivery box...it's about the size of a CD case.

It is a very well put together book, with vellum sheets separating pages (and even the vellum has a texture of the photo added to it!). The photos are equally impressive. But again, the book is small. For the price, I was expecting possibly a 10x10" book. The photos would have been even more stunning if it was larger.
