The aim of the book is to impart physical models of electronic materials which are easy to understand by first or seond year students on electronic Engineering degree and HND courses including those students who have not studied physics. It contains all the essential material for an understanding of the physics and applications of modern semiconducting materials and devices. A simple model of the pPn junction is developed and this is used to explain how semiconductors are used in diodes and transistors and how such devices operate in simple electronic circuits.
