A Wonderful Package all around,

Cilla has an amazing voice and I am finally glad to see some of her lesser know tracks available on CD. It is also nice to see a compilation put together not in chronological order, but rather an order that is pleasing to the ear. All and all this is a wonderful set and a must have.

A top rate 'Cilla' compilation and a must for all fans!,
By A Customer

This Cilla compilation has the distinction of including her major hits together with every Lennon & McCartney/Bacharach & David song that Cilla recorded in her career. It covers tracks from all of her major albums, many never before released on CD, from EMI. and makes the listener wishing that all of her albums were available on CD. Cilla has a unique vocal style and it is a pleasure to hear her on such a varied collection. Let's hope for more!

Well Compiled Cilla CD,

At long last we have a Cilla compilation that has been put together with a lot of loving thought. It was wonderful to see that Stephen had included tracks from the "Images" album ("Junk") as well as the hard to find "Modern Priscilla" album ("Brooklyn"). I do not regret the purchase of this cd for one minute. Perhaps, with Stephen's loving care and work we will eventually get to see all of Cilla's recordings released onto the cd format. Maybe we could start with the "Images" and "Modern Priscilla" albums?

A collection no-one should live without !,
This review is from: Essential 1963-1978 (Audio CD)
This HOT major double CD from 1999....it's a project I have had the pleasure to work heavily on and to say the least it is a sizzling issue for Australasia as only 'Greatest Hits' packages have been available recently. Featuring many previously unreleased tracks to CD all sounding amazing & containing songs from every one of her classic Parlophone/EMI Albums, it is a music lovers delight ! The set also re-affirms the Beatles & Bacharach connections which were apparent from day one in Cilla's vast career, by show casing all of their penned songs recorded in this era.

Wonderful collection,

This is an excellent collection from a very talented British diva. There are so many great songs here, and although many of them are covers, Cilla really could make them her own. My favorites include 'You're My World', 'Anyone Who Had a Heart', 'First of May', 'Surround Yourself With Sorrow' and many others.

Perhaps Mr Munns Could Try Harder Next Time,
By
This review is from: Essential 1963-1978 (Audio CD)
I have a great love for Sixties music and Miss Black is no exeception - she has been the subject of many compilations and reissues on CD, and it is always a pleasure to listen to new tracks issued onto CD. However - Mr Munns, the earlier reviewer of his own work on this CD, could have tried, if he wanted to be part of the issue of a professional music production, to make such a wonderful chance to do so result in something of great interest and an artistic success. What we got was a booklet with what seems like a rushed synopsis of Cilla's career, what with bad grammar and a confusion over lower case and upper case in type, overall bad journalism. The tracks could have been listed and edited in chronological order. It is a bit of a mix and it seems Mr Munns just wants his name connected with Cilla in some way. Fine - but do get it right! He could have had all Bacharach/David and Lennon/McCartney material on the first CD and all others on CD 2. No offense intended as it is a joy to listen to, but surely he needs critical advice! Nice try. But this is just a mish-mash wishy washy affair and could've been a lot better. What a great, great, shame.
