4.0 out of 5 stars warm, comfy, but shrinks too much!
This thermal top is a good, comfortable material, and very warm as well. However, I would suggest that anyone buying this, either order one or even two sizes larger if possible - that's how much it shrank! After just one wash, the bottom hem of the shirt was at least 4 inches shorter than when it came, and the sleeves also shrank by a good 2-3 inches. Since this is a good...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not really thermal shirts - very thin
The only reason these are called thermal shirts is because they have a 'waffle' like texture that is akin to standard thermal shirts. I bought 2 black ones and they are extremely thin. If you hold them up to the light you can see through them more than a standard fruit of the loom t-shirt.

Stick to the Indera Mills thermals if you are looking for any heat...

After just one wash, the bottom hem of the shirt was at least 4 inches shorter than when it came, and the sleeves also shrank by a good 2-3 inches. Since this is a good product for the price, I might buy again, but I will definitely be ordering 2 sizes larger, so it can be worn and washed more than once.

Stick to the Indera Mills thermals if you are looking for any heat retention qualities other than a standard cotton shirt.

For those in warmer climates who like the thermal look - well this might be exactly what you're looking for!

5.0 out of 5 stars exactly what i was lookin for, January 7, 2008
Very comfortable i do recommend u wash it when u get it to take the itch out of it and it will feel a lot softer than when u receive it. The only thing is im 6'0 and my arms are about average length for my height and the sleeves were a little short and i like them kinda long BUT i wanted the thermal to be a nice tight fit so thats my problem other than that very comfortable, very warm and i will be buying more in different colors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Long Johns, January 18, 2008
I was looking for some long johns and these work great. I have put them through the wash numerous times now. They retain there shape quite well and keep me warm as a good pair of tight thermals should.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just what a thermal top needs to be, December 16, 2008

Pros:
-Grey and Black color choices
-Soft feel for a 65%-35% blend
-Holds shape after multiple washings, doesn't become short and wide

Cons:
-Relatively light weight

These thermal tops are very good for a light-medium weight thermal. They're nothing special, but they're not advertised as such either. Although a cotton/polyester blend, they don't feel as "scratchy" as some blends do. And they are cut a bit narrow and long, which helps keep them tucked in and keeps the cuffs from riding up the wearer's arms. I like the color choices (black and grey in addition to standard off-white), and the moderate price especially with the free shipping offer that applied to my order of 3 shirts.

If you're looking for an ultra-heavy thermal top for extreme conditions, this shirt will not do. It is a standard-weight waffle-weave fabric, fine for moderate conditions and as a base layer for multiple-layering applications.

Essential Apparel makes excellent thermal underwear tops for those cold, cold days and nights. The fabric is actually extremely well made and this underwear could easily last years with proper care. It can be worn as underwear under your outdoor clothes or you can wear it in bed with your pajamas on over it. Whatever way you choose you can't go wrong with Essential Apparel thermal underwear.

This thermal underwear top helps to keep you much warmer than you think it would. It may look flimsy in the picture above on this website--but when you're wearing it you'll notice a huge difference. You'll be a lot warmer! It also does not bunch or wrinkle easily.

In order to get the initial scratchy itch out of these, don't wear them fresh from the store or this website--instead, wash and dry them first using fabric softener if you can. That way they'll be much softer when you wear them the first time. As for maintenance, I just put mine in the clothes washer and dryer and everything always comes out fine. If you have concerns about the color "bleeding" onto white colored clothing, just wash this with garments that are not white. You'll be fine. In addition, it shrinks very little.

Be sure to check the pricing and availability chart and the merchant sizing chart if you want to order this here.

Overall, Essential Apparel makes a terrific thermal underwear top. I highly recommend this product.

3.0 out of 5 stars NOT made in USA, March 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought these shirts because the product description said "made in USA," but the actual package says "assembled in Mexico of US components."

2.0 out of 5 stars Essential Apparel Basic Thermal Top - b800ls, April 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This product is VERY thin. I ordered them without knowing just how thin they was. I was not happy with the product and NO I did not send them back due to the fact it is to much to send things back. This is just FYI to anyone ordering these they are PAPER THIN and if you are looking to something thick these are not what you want to order.

1.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for..., December 31, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I tried this on and the fabric feels very irritating on the skin. On top of that, the material is extremely thin. I bought thermals from American Eagle for about $20-25 and never looked back, feels soft and has decent thickness to it.

I would not recommend this product.
