5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for aromatherapy beginners.
This book clearly outlines many essential oils, their sources and recommended uses. There is also an invaluable section listing common ailments and which essential oils are best used to treat them. This was the first aromatherapy book I ever purchased, and I still refer to it often.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very complete
I was excited to get this book after all of the good reviews. I had just begun dabbling in essential oils and wanted some expert guidance. I thought I would start with the oils I had, so I looked up Wintergreen (a pretty common oil) in the index. Not there. Ok, I thought, lets go to ailments that trouble me. For instance, Thyroid (Hypo). Not there. Well.. how about...

5.0 out of 5 stars If you get only one book on aromatherapy, get this one!, June 24, 1999

I have a number of aromatherapy books, but this one is my favorite. It's a small book but it contains all the practical knowledge you need to know to practice good aromatherapy. I have found it invaluable and highly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars good for reference, but you may already have this info, March 30, 2007
This book is a small reference book. If you already own other books by Susan Worwood, you probably have this information already. If you want something portable, buy this book. If not, save your money and read what you already own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous, easy to read book on aromatherapy, November 4, 2007
I got this book out of the library and enjoyed it so much I purchased it. The reference charts are fabulous and the well-laid out easy to read style makes it a pleasure. If you are looking for a highly detailed aromatherapy book then skip this one but if you are looking for recipes, lists of what each herb is good for, etc. then this is the book for you.

This is a very handy, convenient reference book. It contains a lot of information and is very portable, which most of my other reference books are not. Easy and clear to read for both beginners and advanced students of aromatherapy.

This book is easy to cross reference and understand. I have several books in the subject and this is the one I open the most. I have used a few formulas from it that worked better than I ever imagined they could. I highly recommend adding this book to your library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Informative!, September 5, 2008
Small book with a lot of useful information. From how essential oils are used, how they work, buying and storing essential oils, and profiles on each individual oil from A-Z, and a recommended list of suppliers. This is a must for anyone that wants detailed information in a convenient sized book.

Not there. Well.. how about cataracts? Not there. Ok, surely the book will have something on the vaunted Thieves Oil.....
Evidently never heard of it. I also looked under H for hypothyroid--NO. Under E for eye disorders such as glaucoma or cataracts---Nothing. Under ear--- only earache.
Looked for Myrtle (supposed to be good for thyroid) ---Nothing listed.
I don't understand why professionals would want to carry this book around for reference.

There are some good things in the book (Other than diet, exercise and positive thinking)
Not needed in an aromatherapy book. But I'm sorry I bought it. The reviews, I feel, misled me. I would have been better off with one of the other books listed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to understand, July 25, 2010
I recently started working for a company that sells essential oils. I've read several books available at my workplace. But they are too technical for me. This book is absolutely what I was looking for. Tons of valuable information in a very readible understandable format. I recommend this book for any new user of essential oils.

Excellent, excellent book for encompassing info on aromatherapy, applications, medicinal properties and is still small enough to fit into a Canine Massage Therapist's or aromatherapist's travel bag to take on sessions!
