5.0 out of 5 stars best baby organizer we've found
I'm on my second kid and have seen a bunch of books like this. This one is definitely the most organized and helpful. Everything is all in one place by date, so poor tired Mommy doesn't have to go hunting each time she switches from feeding to diapering baby (and so on). 3.0 out of 5 stars Can be useful but not needed
You may want to use it for the first week or so, but it's really not needed. Something to keep you on track of when and how much you are feeding and changing your baby. It's a really nice organizers but I rather create my own on the computer. Plus sometimes you tend to forget to mark it down in the book.

I'm on my second kid and have seen a bunch of books like this. This one is definitely the most organized and helpful. Everything is all in one place by date, so poor tired Mommy doesn't have to go hunting each time she switches from feeding to diapering baby (and so on). There is a place for little notes on baby's mood and milestones for baby each week. There are quick-reference charts in back on things like breastfeeding and milestones to look for. This is something I will recommend to ALL my friends about to have babies. The pregnancy planner by these people is the BEST, too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential for the new (and exhausted) dad, March 26, 2008

As a first time dad, I can tell you this much: adjusting to parenthood is like entering a time warp. All the new experiences and responsibilities can leave you exhausted and overwhelmed.

That's when this organizer shines.

Its care charts provide much needed structure, shepherding you through those first weeks (months?) of no sleep and constant feedings and changings. It also gathers key information in one place--which comes in handy when you're at the pediatrician's office or when you're already late for dinner and the sitter's asking when the baby was last fed.

More than anything, though, it reminds you to reserve time each week to make notes and build a journal about your child. Without a reminder, months can pass without recording all the strange and wonderful events you witness as a parent. For that reason alone, I give it five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive, Easy, and Truly Essential, April 9, 2008

Everyone always tells you to write down all of the little moments or you will forget, but as a harried Mom, we rarely heed this advice. This book makes it easy. All the little details, memories, doctor visits and important contact information can be stored in one place, and this type of organization is essential when between the baby pooping and eating, all you want to do is sleep.

My husband and I use this every single day and it is probably the most useful baby item we have gotten to date! Aside from it being aesthetically pleasing (nice graphic design, colors and fonts), it is well-organized. The meat of this book are the 2-page spreads for the Weekly Care Chart and the Weekly Journal, which are divided in to 3-month sections.

At the beginning of each section is a spot to paste a picture of your little bean and jot down where/when it was taken. Another nice feature are the 2-page spreads for well-baby visits, which are inserted at the appropriate week between the Care Charts. There is plenty of space to jot down your questions for the pediatrician, as well as measurements and instructions. One question I always write in for myself ahead of time is "What questions do you get asked most frequently for children in this age range?" and that usually gives us a heads up on what to expect so we're not calling the doctor at 3 AM! Finally, each section closes out with a spot to write a letter to your child reflecting on the past 3 months.

The Weekly Care Chart page helped us track when I last fed our daughter and which side (I'm breastfeeding) and the Weekly Journal helped us document all the small milestones and funny incidents we experienced. Tracking her feedings, poops, and sleep has helped us see patterns and also notice when her habits were changing so we could adjust (i.e., increase amount of milk in her bottles, feed more frequently, etc).

All in all, this has been a great tool for us b/c it prevents us from having to keep all this information in our heads! And when you are a new parent and delirious from lack of sleep, you'll be happy that you don't have to keep it in your head! Buy this now, you won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you for helping me to stay organized!, March 4, 2010

I'm a new mom so when I started using this organizer, I was really grateful for how organized it was. I loved the fact that I could add daily notes and milestones each day. My favorite part is the letter you can write to your baby at the end of each quarter (i.e. 0-3months, 3-6mon, 6-9 months and 9-12mon).

I also liked the information it gave you at the end of the book (Soothing Your Newborn, Developmental Milestones and Playtime Ideas, etc). I especially was grateful for the Babysitter Interview page. I photocopied that questionnaire and it helped me be more organized with my questions when interviewing. I actually had one nanny say that my questions were very well thought and thorough.

I can't believe a year has already gone by though and sad to say that I no longer can use this organizer. I liked it so much that I continued creating my own little organizer for the foods I was introducing to my son and other pertinent information.

I definitely highly recommend this organizer for the first year!

I love this organizer and give one to everyone I know that is having a baby. We used the book for my son's first year and it's great to look back at all the people he visited, the little things he learned, and how much he changed. I like the layout with options to write about different milestones each week. I highly recommend this organizer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book!!!!!!, February 7, 2008

My friend/co-worker just gave me this little book the other day. It's perfect because I'm going back to work part time in 2 weeks and have been worried about missing out on everything. At least with this I'll be filled in on all of the little details that happened throughout my baby's day - how often and when did he eat, nap, etc...
It also has quick reference pages in breast milk pumping and storage which I've found really useful. I also look forward to filling out the fun journal pages!

I love this organizer for tracking my baby's growth. Its easy to take with me to doctor's appointments, and it helps me stay organized with tracking her feeding and also jotting down special moments. Plus, I have a place to put her monthly photos now and I know I can store this for reflection years from now!

After quite a bit of searching, I found this item in 2009 as we were expecting our first child. I have yet to find a baby "journal" that is as comprehensive as this one for a Mom. This one allows you to track the intake and output of your little one for each day of the week in a very easy to use and read format. I found that having this light book made it easier for me to have peace of mind as a new Mom, and it came in very helpful for the Doctor's visit (both for the Dr visit page so you can be prepared with questions and to take notes, but to have all the baby's stats right there).

I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a Baby Organizer or as a gift for a soon-to-be Mom.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE THIS, September 26, 2010

This review is from: The Essential Baby Organizer: Birth to One Year (The Essential Organizers) (Spiral-bound)
I had the pregnancy and first year versions and absolutely LOVED both. This is a great place to jot down everything on feeding, diapering, milestones and illnesses. I know that I have all the little stories and info in here that I will ever need to go back and create a more keepsake-type baby book for my daughter, and I love that I have no much detail recorded for my pregnancy and my baby's first year both as a reference for myself for future children and something that I can hand down to her when she's ready to be a parent. The only thing I'm not happy about is that they haven't come out with a version for year two and beyond!
