Book Description

February 24, 2009
Whether you’re exclusively breastfeeding, combining breastfeeding with pumping, or supplementing with formula, The Essential Breastfeeding Log is an indispensable tool to help you track your baby’s eating and sleeping habits so that you can see the patterns emerging–and regain some sanity in your life.
This book evolves over time, offering four different daily log formats, each modified for your baby’s age and changing needs. The log pages for the early weeks provide space to record feedings and to tally diapers. The pages for the later stages allow more room to track your baby’s nap times and bedtimes, as well as your exercise and “me” time. With this handy format you will also be able to

• chart your weight loss and your baby’s weight gain
• reserve time together for yourself and your partner
• note your thoughts and feelings during those precious first months

Complete with breastfeeding basics, troubleshooting tips, and vital facts, The Essential Breastfeeding Log is an invaluable, encouraging book to help you raise a healthy, happy baby.

5.0 out of 5 stars A helpful tool to stay organized!, January 27, 2010

As both a mom of 4 and as a pediatrician, I highly recommend "The Essential Breastfeeding Log." Whether you are caring for your first newborn or your 5th, this handy book can help you stay organized in the midst of busy days and sleep-deprived nights. The book wisely states that just because breastfeeding is natural "doesn't necessarily mean it's easy," and provides helpful tips and strategies to help parents stay on track. All the necessary info is in one spot, easily handed off between Mom, Dad, and other caregivers, so that everyone is on the same page.

4.0 out of 5 stars Essential is an understatement, September 8, 2010

I've been using the journal daily with the birth of my second son. I'm amazed at what a happy baby I've got and how already we are on a routine that keeps the family happy. I credit the journal with keeping me sane, I don't have to remember anything because I know it's written down and I refer to it throughout the day to recall diaper changes and feeding times. The journal is easy to use, I like that there is plenty of space on the page for notes. Also love that the nurses and pediatrician think I'm super mom because I am well informed about my newborns routine and eating habits. My only complaint, is that the days are written in. My son happened to be born on a Monday so it worked out perfect for us, but it's a potential problem. I don't have a high tolerance for that kind of thing, the journal works for us because we take it one page at a time...if I had to flip through the book in the middle of the night to find the right day, I would get annoyed quickly. But I would still highly recommend this book for breastfeeding mothers. It is great for keeping organized and helps you determine your babies eating preferences, wish I had this book for my first son!

Sarah and Suzanne have compiled a mommy-user-friendly log for breast feeding...This simple and thoughtful journal allows moms to track times, nursing, naps and a host of other information during those first 6 months of their child's life...It is well organized and offers insight from two real moms with busy lives and careers and the breast feeding experience behind them...I gave this as a gift for a new mom of her second child and know it is appreciated even for just the little words of encouragement and insight. The random facts/information on pages are fascinating too! Terrific job Sarah and Suzanne...you put your minds, hearts and 'breasts' into this and it shows!
