5.0 out of 5 stars A helpful tool to stay organized!, January 27, 2010

As both a mom of 4 and as a pediatrician, I highly recommend "The Essential Breastfeeding Log." Whether you are caring for your first newborn or your 5th, this handy book can help you stay organized in the midst of busy days and sleep-deprived nights. The book wisely states that just because breastfeeding is natural "doesn't necessarily mean it's easy," and provides helpful tips and strategies to help parents stay on track. All the necessary info is in one spot, easily handed off between Mom, Dad, and other caregivers, so that everyone is on the same page.

I've been using the journal daily with the birth of my second son. I'm amazed at what a happy baby I've got and how already we are on a routine that keeps the family happy. I credit the journal with keeping me sane, I don't have to remember anything because I know it's written down and I refer to it throughout the day to recall diaper changes and feeding times. The journal is easy to use, I like that there is plenty of space on the page for notes. Also love that the nurses and pediatrician think I'm super mom because I am well informed about my newborns routine and eating habits. My only complaint, is that the days are written in. My son happened to be born on a Monday so it worked out perfect for us, but it's a potential problem. I don't have a high tolerance for that kind of thing, the journal works for us because we take it one page at a time...if I had to flip through the book in the middle of the night to find the right day, I would get annoyed quickly. But I would still highly recommend this book for breastfeeding mothers. It is great for keeping organized and helps you determine your babies eating preferences, wish I had this book for my first son!

Sarah and Suzanne have compiled a mommy-user-friendly log for breast feeding...This simple and thoughtful journal allows moms to track times, nursing, naps and a host of other information during those first 6 months of their child's life...It is well organized and offers insight from two real moms with busy lives and careers and the breast feeding experience behind them...I gave this as a gift for a new mom of her second child and know it is appreciated even for just the little words of encouragement and insight. The random facts/information on pages are fascinating too! Terrific job Sarah and Suzanne...you put your minds, hearts and 'breasts' into this and it shows!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have for New Moms, November 28, 2011

I just turned the last page of my "Essential Breastfeeding Log" and I am sad that it is over. This was such a great help - I wish I had discovered before the baby came. We started it 8 weeks in and it was totally worth it. I was able to use it for both breastfeeding, pumping, and supplementing, and even formula when my supply dipped. My son had trouble gaining weight in his first few months and this log was essential to keeping us on track. It has a handy 'daily log' for capturing milestones or things you want to end up in their baby book - but don't have time to record right now. I now give this book as a gift to my pregnant friends.

I was given this book with my first pregnancy, THE BEST for logging important info in the hospital and while your home! I had Lactation nurses wanting to flip thru my book because they loved how much better it was than their silly paper print offs! I plan on getting again for my next child !

5.0 out of 5 stars Best thing for a crazy new mom, May 3, 2011
This review is from: The Essential Breastfeeding Log: A Feedings Tracker and Baby-Care Organizer for Nursing Moms (Spiral-bound)
I got this book after a long struggle with breastfeeding. I found this log to be a real life saver. I had no idea how often my baby was supposed to eat, this book helped. It has some very well written, easy to understand information in the beginning of the book that I referenced often on sleep, supplementation, your own health, etc. I have another mommy friend who did not use anything like this and is still struggling with knowing how much her baby is supposed to eat (I know all babies are different, and this book is good at explaining that) but because she's never gotten even a general idea that babies cut back on the number of feedings as they grow older, she's still nursing 12 times a day and her baby is 8 months old! Anyway, I used this log religiously, it gave me confidence knowing that I was doing it right. I also really liked that there was a place to log my daily activities - now I have a bit of memorabilia of my son's first 6 months.

This is a must have for all breastfeeding moms. I am a first time mom, but know I will use it each time I have a child. I am still using it and my son just turned 5 months old. It is great to have everything organized into one place and I am also using it as a journal to remember all of my sons "1st's"

This book has been wonderful in helping me keep track of my sons feeding patterns. I had a hard time in the beginning remembering which breast I left off on but this book makes it easy to keep track of. We have just reached week 7 and I love that it includes space for me to jot down notes about my diet and exercise. The book is not in any way a how to guide for breastfeeding- just a log to help you keep track of your babies eating and sleeping habits as well as your own health. It does suggest several great books that will help you with feeding and getting your baby to sleep if you do find yourself stuck at some point.

I bought this for my daughter in law after she delivered her first baby and she said it was enormously helpful. Not only did it help with the daily feedings when she was too exhausted to remember which side was next, but she said she loved the hints for Moms part where it said "do something nice for yourself today". It's always good to have a little more help at this time and we recommend this book!
