Most Helpful Customer Reviews

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful By Mary M. Veeneman on September 19, 2009
Format: Paperback
I am currently using this as a text for an upper-level undergraduate course and have found it to be phenomenal. Brady offers a thematic overview of Catholic Social Teaching, which alone would make for an excellent book. What makes it even better is that he has given substantial portions of a number of the major CST documents. He has done an excellent job of striking the balance between offering excerpts that are far too brief and requiring students to read the entirety of each encyclical (or CST document). The excerpts are substantial and offer students a genuine sense of what is going on in the larger document, but they are not overwhelming. This is a book that anyone with any interest in CST should own and anyone teaching CST to undergraduates should use.
