All you'll need for Christmas cooking!,
By
This review is from: The Essential Christmas Cookbook (Essential Cookbooks (Whitecap Paperback)) (Paperback)
I recently purchased this cookbook, and let me tell you: it has everything from appetizers to main dishes, from a section specifically for treats you can give as gifts, to another section with foreign Christmas recipes! It's absolutely wonderful. Not to mention the recipes themselves are delicious! I'm a teenager who just can't stop cooking and baking, and trust me; this book kept me very busy! Buy it; it's well worth the money :)

A Lovely Cookbook for Everyday,
By "lelandwise" (Austin, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Essential Christmas Cookbook (Essential Cookbooks) (Hardcover)
I bought this book for Christmas ideas and ended up making the entire meal featured on page 74: Prime Rib Roast with Yorkshire Puddings, pan roasted onions and brussels sprouts with beurre noisette, for Christmas dinner. And it was wonderful if I may say so.The recipes are clearly and precisely written which is comforting to beginners. The more experienced and expert cooks will also enjoy this book. It is a joy to look at as there are beautiful color photos on almost every page. The recipes cover such a wide range of dishes that I see no reason to only use this book at Christmas. I will be planning dinner parties out of it all year long.

This is absoultely one cookbook that everyone should own. We own the entire series and there is no other cookbook like it. There are beautiful pictures for every recipe and the recipes are very unique, interesting, and delicious. Several recipes will suggest ingredients that may be difficult or expensive to find but the recipes can also be simplified. My husband loves to cook and looooves this entire series of cookbooks. This cookbook will help any chef tap into their creativity and explore their passion for cooking and take it to a new level.

Christmas the old fashioned way,
By Proud American (CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Essential Christmas Cookbook (Essential Cookbooks (Whitecap Paperback)) (Paperback)
What better place to find wonderful Fruitcakes and Puddings (even low-sugar and low fat versions) for Christmas, as well as many other traditional Christmas delights than from a book written by folks who really know how to make traditional Christmas fare. At first, I thought this was written in England, but on closer inspection, I see it is from an Australian Publisher. Still, many Australian's ancestors were from England, right? So it's no surprise to me that these recipes could've come right from a Dickens novel. Inside you will find directions for making a real boiled pudding, and also, international goodies from Italy, Scotland, Germany, Sweden, Greece, Denmark, Holland, Russia, Hungary, etc. There are even some clever ideas for using up that leftover turkey. You'll find wonderful appetizers and delicious Roasts, as well as some ideas for a vegetarian celebration main courses. While a vegetarian Christmas not particularly traditional, overall, this book has recipes and ideas for making a wonderful celebration for everyone.
