Product Description

Disc 1: THE MUSIC MAN Disc 2: MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS Disc 3: SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS

Amazon.com

This three-disc set, part of Warner's Essential Classics series, collects three truly classic films--The Music Man, Meet Me in St. Louis, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers--in one inexpensive package. The drawback is you don't get the second disc of either Meet Me in St. Louis or Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, so if you're a featurette junky or if you simply have to see the reshot version of Seven Brides, you'll want to stick with the individual releases. But this set does include the commentary tracks and any other material that was on the first disc of those two-disc sets (The Music Man still has everything that was on the one-disc release), and best of all, they have the great remastered pictures of the previous releases. So if you just want the movies looking better than ever with some bonus features thrown in for good measure, the price per movie makes this set an attractive bargain. --David Horiuchi

These three movie musicals are classic representations of a true American art form - the musical. All three feature timeless performances of great american actors and actresses. Any complete movie collection should have these three and what better way to buy than as one package. Granted there are very few extras but how often are those watched, for me rarely.

3 wonderful MGM musicals at a great price together. Not the greatest MGM musicals but they're up there with the best. For sheer entertainment on a cold, indoors-type of day, these 3 musicals will warm your spirit with a stroll down yester-year. Memorable tunes, big screen name actors, wonderful color and dance numbers lend themselves to a superb product that's been remastered digitally to fit the big HD screens. If you're looking to replace old VHS tapes or just need 3 movies to fill a void, this disc won't disappoint you.

While this set doesn't include all the extra material dvd's at this price it's still well worth it for these great musicals. They are indeed classics as the title states. My favorites would be "Meet Me in St. Loius" and "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers". Not very found of "The Music Man" but the package is still cheaper than what I would pay individually. The movies speak for themselves.

Great musical classic that my whole family loves. There are others that I have not been able to get or find, such as "Many Rivers to Cross", Tammy and the Bachelor", Mother was a Freshman" and a few more. Sure would like to find these on DVD.

Three great movies in one. It may not have the special features that you would get if you bought the movies in a single pack, but seeing as how they are older movies this feature is not missed. A good buy if ever there was one.

The quality of all 3 DVD's is excellent in terms of quality of sound and color. The reason for 4 vs. 5 stars is due to packaging and price. I only wanted 2 of the 3 movies and would have preferred a different package arrangement. As far as all 3 movies, they are as I remember on the big screen. I travel every week. Being able to watch and listen to older musicals in flight makes time pass quickly and allows extra comfort when turbulance is encountered. Seems they bring joy to many as I find other passengers straining to see what's playing on my computer. Unfortunately, they don't get the benefit of the beauty in the music. Hurrah for the Classics!

These three time-honoured musical classics deserve a space in every DVD collection. With stars like Jane Powell, Judy Garland, Howard Keel, Robert Preston and Shirley Jones, lush production values and memorable music, they'll be assured of giving your family hours and hours of solid movie entertainment.

THE MUSIC MAN:
The small town of River City, Iowa will never be the same when professional con-artist 'Professor' Harold Hill (Robert Preston) worms his way into the tight-knit community with promises of establishing a brass band. Along the way, he romances strait-laced librarian Marian Paroo (Shirley Jones).

Special features: "Right Here in River City" retrospective documentary, trailer, all-new introduction by Shirley Jones, production notes.

SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS:
Jane Powell and Howard Keel star in this lusty musical favourite with a particularly sweeping Johnny Mercer/Gene DePaul score.

Special features: audio commentary with director Stanley Donen, and a Donen musicals trailer gallery.

MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS:
Judy Garland was never more appealing than when she played lovestruck Esther Smith in this nostalgic turn-of-the-century delight, which also boasts a winning performance from young Margaret O'Brien.

Special features: all-new introduction from Liza Minnelli, audio commentary by John Fricke, and a Vincente Minnelli trailer gallery.
