"Essential" has the exact level of detail...,

This review is from: Essential Clinical Anatomy, 4th Edition (Paperback)
This is just the right level of detail...and it has the added benefit of being able to actually be carried around because of it's thoughtful layout and organization. Have your local printer put a spiral binding on it and along with FA4S1 (First Aid for Step One) carry it everywhere...

Great new 2010 4th Edition but advertised online access not available yet!!,
This review is from: Essential Clinical Anatomy, 4th Edition (Paperback)
This is a great streamlined anatomy text that gives the key take-home points. The info is sufficient for most except of course the masters and PhDs in anatomy! The only downside is that, as of the date of this review, the access to the online book is not up and running yet (i.e. with the scratch code). I wrote to the customer service (thePoint) about this but have had no response in two weeks. So if you are buying this book to access it online be aware. Not sure when it will be ready.

Lots of Information, Serves its purpose,

This book was recommended by our professors and is a basis of much of our work in my Medical School Anatomy Class. There is plenty of information inside, and it can be used to delve more in depth on any particular topic. Also, it contains clinically relevant correlations. I know that it would be an asset to a medical student.

If you have a choice, do not get it. I ended up supplementing with dozens of books from the library. Just to understand what they are talking about. Or ask instructor to use different pic in lecture handouts.

the book arrived in time and in great condition. I haven't had the time to use it a lot, so i can't give an opinion as far as the quality and the organization of the book content, but so far i am pleased with the purchase.

While the book has quality explanations, images, and charts for most things--the online resources that are described in the product description, the inside cover of the book, and on the company's website are not present. The only function that is available is the "Fully searchable text" (which should really be described as sort of searchable text). I purchased the book over three months ago, and there has been an error message for the USMLE question app the entire time. They say they are "in the process of fixing" it, but clearly are not. There are no video podcasts of the blue boxes and no interactive case studies. If you want to learn anatomy from a book with detailed pictures (and the occasional mis-labeling) and text, then this is a fine choice--along with any of the other major anatomy texts. If you want to find interactive e-content, review questions, videos of clinical correlations, and case studies, look elsewhere.

Good, bad and ugly,

Good: Clinical aspects (blue boxes) good for board review.Bad: Bulk of the text is just not written in a readable manner. Read Blumenfeld's neuroanatomy text, or Gray's, and you'll know what I mean. Ugly: Mis-labeled tables, poor labeling of some illustrations, and some information in text either confusing or just plain wrong. Netter's, Gray's, Blumenfeld all have superior illustrations and explanations of them. Overall, a decent supplementary text, but infuriating at times.
