2.0 out of 5 stars Reheating OLD Sup!, January 31, 2008
This review is from: Essential Collection (Audio CD)
How many more times must Motown or 'whoever' keeps making an album cover change here and there, yet inside it is basically the SAME OLD stuff. Not that the old stuff wasn't any good. But come on, it is like constantly reheating Campbell's Tomato soup. After awhile, you just can eat it.

Adding even more insult to injury is the constant omission of Jean Terrell's name. For those of you that do not know....it is JEAN TERRELL who is the lead singer on 'UP THE LADDER TO THE ROOF.' It is not Diana Ross, as Motown wants people to believe. Jean was a most gifted lead singer and brought out the BEST of the Supremes with numerous hits, such as 'Stoned Love','Floy Joy','Nathan Jones' and many more. She was never given her due by Motown.

I would venture to say that it was Motown that decided to promote the Supremes, once Ross went solo. This was because while Supremes were well on their way to maintaing their way to surpassing their status at the BEST female group ever, Ross' little solo venture was struggling.

Checkout 'YOUTUBE' to hear and see Miss Terrell with the Supremes....at THEIR VERY BEST!!!
