Colan soap opera slugfest.
The attraction in picking this up is of course Gene Colan's work, which, while shadowy, is certainly a lot more realistic of figure than that produced today. The storyline for a lot of this is quite long, which your shadowy master villain or villains, sending a stream of low-rent villains DD's way. Lots of fighting for him. Plenty of on panel angst about which woman he really loves, and vice versa, from Karen Page to the Black Widow - who features in many of these issues. No contest, if you ask me - the Widow saves him more than once in this book alone. 3.5 out of 5

This review is from: Essential Daredevil, Vol. 4 (Marvel Essentials) (v. 4) (Paperback)
"Daredevil Vol. 4" has issues #75-101, as well as Avengers #111. Issue 81 brings the Black Widow into the Daredevil universe, while DD was living on the West Coast, and the title changed to "Daredevil and The Black Widow". The stories are still good, but the artwork ranges from great to crappy. Simply put, if you're a Daredevil fan, you'll want this book.

this volume represents the Conway-Colan-Palmer Daredevil run quite well and the charecter whould not see this consistant quality until the Frank Miller run and then the Bendis-Maleev run.
