5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Tool Box of Essential Event Planning Tools!
I've been deeply involved with event planning as a professional florist, a seminar leader for Tony Robbins & Dale Carnegie, and a tour guide for destination management companies. So this book (3rd edition) comes in real handy for me.

The book is a collection of 11 easy to use charts, tables, diagrams, and lists that are essential for thorough planning of any event...

2.0 out of 5 stars A book of worksheets...
This book does NOT teach you how to organize an event. It is less than 55 pages (big print and mostly forms). This event planner does not agree with the author's advice to write your goal statement at the very end of the planning process. I believe the purpose statement and objectives shape how your meeting or event is organized.

This book does NOT teach you how to organize an event. It is less than 55 pages (big print and mostly forms). This event planner does not agree with the author's advice to write your goal statement at the very end of the planning process. I believe the purpose statement and objectives shape how your meeting or event is organized.

While this booklet does have a number of forms/worksheets you can photocopy and use, they are not very detail oriented and their small size makes them impractical for use in your actual event notebook (you'll most likely want to recreate them on your computer). There may be better resources available but because this booklet is offered for (...), you should get at least that amount of value from it.

1.0 out of 5 stars This book sucks!, November 2, 2003

This review is from: The Essential Event Planning Kit (Paperback)
You know I bought this book because I mistakingly saw the Amazon reviews..but what I read was the published reviews (which must get a kiok back or something). Anyone, and I mean, ANYONE could write this book, because there is NO WRITING. It's a book of forms, lame ones at that. Like a To Do List? Date - What to do - Who do you need help to Get it Done - Done checkmark.

Wow! That was deeeeeep insight.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Go out to lunch instead and spend the $6-$8. I would rate this book a zero star if I could.

I've been deeply involved with event planning as a professional florist, a seminar leader for Tony Robbins & Dale Carnegie, and a tour guide for destination management companies. So this book (3rd edition) comes in real handy for me.

The book is a collection of 11 easy to use charts, tables, diagrams, and lists that are essential for thorough planning of any event like a weddings, party, seminar, conference or ceremony. While there isn't a lot of text, the book is pretty self-explanatory.

You could buy other books that have a lot written about what to do in this area, but here is a simple one that has all that you need to have a stress-free function within budget.

I think every professional florist, photographer, caterer, banquet manager, or full-service hotel should have a copy of this book on hand. It is certainly money that is well-spent.

I was highly disappointed in this book. This is hardly an event planners tool kit. I have no idea where my book is to date. Professionals back away. Amateurs there are other books worth your purchase. Save your money.

1.0 out of 5 stars I know it was only $6.95 but..., May 24, 2005
This review is from: The Essential Event Planning Kit (Paperback)
I received my copy of this "book" (it is really more of a glorified pamphlet) just an hour ago. It took me less than 30 minutes to read it stem to stern. I know nothing about event planning but could have put together everything contained in this planning kit off the top of my head in a long day.

My suggestion to anyone looking for significant information on event planning is to look elsewhere.

1.0 out of 5 stars You have got be kidding me!!, November 8, 2005
This review is from: The Essential Event Planning Kit (Paperback)
"I wasted $7.00 on this booklet. I do not as a habit comment in a negative way. But, if I were you I would not purchase this booklet. I will never purchase an articles from this (Former US diplomat)author again. The booklet I got was the 7th edition I shuttler to think how 1-6 editions were composed. Go to the web and search for event planning, you will get more information than this booklet. Maybe ask you school age child or maybe your worse enemy and I can know you will get some useful information on event planning than in this trash"

I am shocked at the last two reviews. These reviewers are obviously perfect and don't need help with their planning.
I found many of the lists extremely helpful and highly recommend this book to guide one in various event planning,
I have planned over 1000 events in my career in public relations and say " this is worth using for all types of events"

Maybe this book would be good for someone who has never planned an event before, but I found it was just a little common sense and a bunch of charts.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Essential Event Planning Kit (Paperback)
Any idiot could figure out what this book presents in their sleep. It's a bunch of blank forms - that are so general they are totally obvious and unhelpful. For example, there are 2 pages of this 56 page book (including all the credits and end pages) devoted to a "Layout Map" - it consists of a big empty rectangle! There aren't even any grids where you might be able to draw something to scale. And another 2 pages devoted to the "Planning Calendar" - again an empty monthly calendar - does have the days of the week marked - whoowhoo!
If you're planning on organizing an event and find this book helpful - ask for help from others.
