4.0 out of 5 stars Loud, Crude and Great, February 15, 2003

This review is from: Essential Fucked Up Blues (Audio CD)
The vocals are muddly, the guitar fuzzy, the drums loud and fast. The whole effect is blues music meets punk music and it works. I'm a fan of the White Stripes, Detroit cobras and Soledad Brothers but I'm also a fan of the Clash, Rancid and Refused. The ILCK sound like the meeting point between those two sets of bands. If that is your gig then you'll liekly appreciate the very stripped down feel of this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars BLUES EXPLOSION, December 1, 2008
This review is from: Essential Fucked Up Blues (Audio CD)
AS FAR AS I KNOW, THIS IS THE LAST TIME AN AMERICAN BAND REALLY ROCKED, AND GOD DID THEY. IT'S LIKE LISTENING TO A FROZEN CATFISH FRYING IN YOUR OWN OUT-STRETCHED HANDS. CHETLEY "CHEETAH" WEISE IS LIKE A ONE MAN, 21ST CENTURY HASIL ADKINS WITH A DRUMMER. TRUST THE SONG SAMPLES, AND BUY THIS ALBUM BECAUSE YOU ALREADY LOVE IT.

4.0 out of 5 stars Down and Dirty, December 28, 2006
This review is from: Essential Fucked Up Blues (Audio CD)
If you like your Blues extra dirty and nasty, you dig ILCK. This, their first album, is very raw and under-produced. Their follow ups, esp. "These Bones Will Rise to Love You Again," sound much better, but the songs are very different. "Blues" is very agressive, abrasive, and dirty.
