Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Gr 6 Up-An inviting and helpful guide for those who are easily discouraged. Readers are given the basics and are then encouraged to get more information from seed packets, other gardening books, and a local garden center. This attitude gives teens ownership of the process and shows respect for whatever potential readers may have. In 48 pages, Chasek covers planning, preparing, planting, and taking care of a garden. This attempt to cover a broad subject in a few pages occasionally results in sketchy, confused information. However, the layout is attractive and clean, including instructive color photographs and drawings just often enough to break up the text.-Carolyn Jenks, First Parish Unitarian Church, Portland, ME
