This is great. It hits all the highlights of the various laws governing employment relationships. Of all the books I have on ADA and FMLA this is the best explanation I've seen. If you need or want to learn about employment law this is excellent. It's one volume packed with accurate information that can replace volumes of other books.

I purchased this book in preparation for the PHR exam because I felt I had limited knowledge about employment law. I used the book in an atypical fashion and read it the entire way through, so I did notice some repeat and redundent information in reading it cover to cover. However, it is still a great reference guide for those HR professionals who want a go-to manual on the basics of the major laws governing employment in the U.S. The authors divide the book into clearly defined sections, with a lot of white space, so it is very easy to find the various requirements and exceptions to the laws. What I found most useful were the various websites they listed in each chapter where you can go to find more detailed information on the law and where to find the posters if needed for the law. The authors don't pretend to be the one and only source for employment law due to its complex nature, but they do point you in the direction of additional information. I would recommend this book as a quick reference tool for employment law basics.

Thye Grayness of HR Law,

After reading this book I see the haziness of the laws that were written to protect us. Much of the information is redundant and I found accessing the actual codes to be as much or more informational.
