This review is from: The Essential Guide to Grief and Grieving (Kindle Edition)
Grief/crisis counselor Holland draws on personal insights and experiences as well as established practices and knowledge in the field to create an accessible book for anyone suffering a loss or trauma, or wishing to help someone who has.

The death of a loved one, a physical injury or illness, financial setbacks and other tragedies and blows affect different people in different ways. Holland discusses the range of reactions, acknowledging and respecting the individual's unique emotions. This is not a book that tells you how to feel or what to do, but rather one that, by providing examples, suggestions and validation, facilitates working through the grieving process.

Written in easy-to-read fashion, it's well-organized, with plenty of summations and lists to clarify its points. Throughout, Holland's gentle voice provides reassurance.

I've been through all too many losses in my life, and wish I'd had this book available earlier. Highly recommended.

More About the Author

Debra Holland wears several hats when it comes to writing. As a psychotherapist, she writes nonfiction books. The Essential Guide to Grief and Grieving is her first nonfiction book. More nonfiction books about grieving, boundary setting with difficult people, and relationships, are forthcoming.

Debra also writes fiction--Historial Western Romance, Contemporary Romance, Fantasy Romance, and Science Fiction. She currently has her award winning Historical Western Romance Series, The Montana Sky Series, on Kindle. Soon to come is her fantasy series and the first of a contemporary romance series.

The common publishing philosophy is that an author should take different pen names for different kinds of book or "the reader will be confused." Debra thinks her readers are smart enough to distinguish between her various books. Thus, she's publishing everything under her own name.

Debra lives in Southern California, and has two dogs, two cats, and a boyfriend (who does all the cooking and cleans the kitchen when she's on a deadline.) She's a second degree blackbelt and teaches martial arts. She also is a corporate crisis/grief counselor. You can learn more about her at www.drdebraholland.com.
