This book was very well written and researched. It has all the information that we need to know today. She has great shopping tips like planning before you go and eating more plant-based meals. I also loved the one about getting skinnier calcium choices. I made this one: "Choose plain yogurt and add your own fruit, a swirl of honey or agave nectar." It was delicious with the honey. It is nice to get the scientific facts for what we need to eat instead of marketing hype or fad diet books. Great read!

This well-researched book is now one of my go-to references for all things food and health. I can quickly find important tidbits like how to cut a butternut squash, which spices and herbs might calm an upset stomach and which ones might help prevent gas. For my patients, I recommend it as a simple, informative guide to healthful eating with recipes to put it all together deliciously.

Wow--if you need to look up something about nutrition, chances are you'll find it in this book! Want to know what different vitamins and minerals do, how much you need, and where to get them?--It's there! Want to know what benefits specific foods provide?--It's there (a bunch of foods and drinks are covered). Want to know what proteins and fats do in your body?--It's there! What to know how what you eat impacts various diseases? It's there! All that and so much more, plus a bunch of yummy, healthy recipes too! Fantastic nutrition book to have on your bookshelf.

This book is chock full of information that brings home the message that "what you eat is directly related to your health." One of my favorite chapters is Chapter 4, Evolve Your Eating." The author points out that, "Just as your body changes as you age, your body's nutrient needs change as well." This must-have nutrition guide helps the reader tap into the power of "Healthy Healing Foods" to maximize their health. My clients and patients are always looking for recipes that focus on a specific health concern - what a great resource this will be.

The book is well organized and easy to use on a daily basis. Fruits, vegetables and grains are listed by food groups offering marketing tips, storage, preparation,nutritional value, recipes and tips on preparing most foods. It discusses disease prevention. inflammation, allergies and even alcohol. Following the author's suggestions and feel healthier every day.

This is a must-have reference guide for dietitians and anyone who is interested in how food impacts health and well-being!

I loved this book. Easy to read and full of fun "munch on this" facts. It includes a comprehensive guide to healthy foods that describes not only what each food can do for your system but also recipes and suggestions for how to incorporate it into your diet. I hadn't realized what a resource this book would be but now I am keeping it handy in the kitchen - it even tells me how to best store various fruits and vegetables so they will last longer. I'm buying copies for my friends!
