Includes the latest information on:

-Antidepressants

-Antipsychotics

-Side effects and withdrawal symptoms

-Specific usage, dosage duration, and efficacy

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Much ignorance and many misconceptions exist about psychotropic prescription drugs (antidepressants, tranquilizers, antipsychotics, hypnotics, etc.), since people are often reluctant to ask questions about these drugs, even though they are among the most heavily prescribed. This is reason enough to recommend the book; the only minor quibble is some unnecessary repetition in the text. The information is no more technical than is needed to deal with this complex subject; most current comparable titles are aimed at the health practitioner. This book is also far more comprehensible than such readily available titles as the Physicians' Desk Reference .

4.0 out of 5 stars Very complete and well documented., February 15, 2006
Great as a reference with good lay language. Not exactly something you'd take to the beach with you but with such a huge percentage of the population on psychotropics, pretty informative. Definitely worth buying whether you are a patient, a relative or friend of a patient, a non-psychiatric clinician, a mental health worker or, I daresay, even a psychiatrist!

By A Customer
Dr. Gorman provides the general public and, the medical community, information on psychiatric drugs NOT found in the gazillion other books of this type on the market. I strongly suggest this book to patients currently taking medication or considering it. You will be glad you read it.

This book is a classic, it takes psychiatric medicine and helps not only the professional but the patient as well to understand the field in great detail, while at the same time keeping it all simplistic. I most strongly recommend this book.
