4.0 out of 5 stars Proofread, please!! February 17, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This little volume is a terrific starter for those of us interested in using herbal and home remedies but not yet very knowledgable about these. I had read bits and pieces elsewhere about properties of ginger, lavender, apple vinegar, etc., but usually after googling each malady or each herb separately. I would also suggest that the author provide more information as to how the reader can know if, for example, honey is pasteurized or not. Are there health regulations that mandate this information for commercial sale of these products? But all in all, this is a good and very helpful, starters' compendium.

My very strong recommendation is that the author find a competent proofreader or copyeditor to go over the text with a fine-tooth comb to correct the countless errors, like using 'it's' when 'its' is needed and vice-versa (throughout), punctuation errors, spelling errors, and plain old grammar mistakes. All can be easily and painlessly corrected--but as the text now stands, these mistakes take away from the overall usefulness and credibility of the information.

This is a great introduction to home remedies. I am a firm believer that drugs and surgeries are way over prescribed. If you are looking to reconnect with mother nature, this may be a good place to start.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helpful and informative February 18, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Informative book on home health remedies that can be used for most common ailments. The author describes the healing herbs used for conditions that plague many of us on a daily basis, from indigestion, constipation, and the common cold, even to anti-cancer remedies. It was interesting to learn just how much can be treated from home, rather than with prescription pills or doctor visits. I'm looking forward to trying the thyme remedy as treatment for a persistent cough.
