This review is from: Essential Iron Man, Vol. 4 (Marvel Essentials) (Paperback)
I'm a huge Iron Man fan, but this is Iron Man at his worst. The 70's weren't kind to the Golden Avenger. The art is bad, the writing is absolutely cheesy, and worst of all, it's boring. Get vol. 1 and 2 instead, because they're both phenomenal.

Not the Golden Avengers's best era,

This review is from: Essential Iron Man, Vol. 4 (Marvel Essentials) (Paperback)
This is not the best era of ol' Shellhead's adventures.Plot threads were dropped, writers came and went on the Iron Man title with alarming frequency, and some of the worst (and cheesiest) elements of life in the the early '70s are on display in the comics reprinted in this volume. At times the art is far from top-notch. Sometimes the black and white treatment given to comics in the Essential line helps a reader enjoy the comics. In some cases in this volume, I coloring would have helped the art. Things should pick up for Iron Man next volume. |
