I have been using this book for a personal morning devotion for the past three weeks.

The Pros:
Good selection of Biblical texts well ordered and arranged by topic (see table of contents) moving the reader through both the Old and New Testaments in a logical order, or allowing you to "jump" to a specific aspect of Jesus' life and ministry per your own preferences. Daily readings and accompanying devotion are easy to read and can be done within 15-20 minutes, so is a great resource to keep you in the Word even when your time is limited. Very good for those who would like to take a closer look at the person and life of Jesus to either simply grow in their own knowledge, or would "like to find out for themselves what Jesus said and did so they can come to their own conclusions about him" (back cover). Also, great for a group Bible Study with reflective questions at the end of each daily devotion, and then at the end of each section of 5 readings. Wonderful resource for discipling those new to the faith or with limited experience in the Scriptures. Would be great for one-on-one mentoring, and adaptable for use in a Christian Education setting. What it lacks in depth for the Scripturally experienced, it makes up for in its breadth--covers all aspects of Jesus' life and work, and why his person and work is essential to the Christian faith

Cons:
Lacks a theological depth for those who already have a good knowledge of the Scriptures and salvation history, but it is for this same reason it is a great resource for someone grounded in the Scriptures to build another's knowledge in them with ease.

Summary:
Resource most appropriate for seekers or those with limited knowledge of the Scriptures, and those discipling others in the Word. But, even if you have a good working knowledge of the Scriptures, this book is helpful to keep you in the Word when your time is limited or personal discipline is lacking like mine!

This is a tremendous book for anyone who would like to learn more about and grow closer to Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!!!! I particularly like the format is used in this and "The ESSENTIAL BIBLE STUDY GUIDE" in which PRAY, READ, REFLECT, APPLY, PRAY is used....GREAT BOOK!!!!

This is a book that tells about who Jesus is by encouraging the reader to follow 5 readings and discussion per week and then a review at the end of the week.
A number of people from Welcome Bay Community Church in Tauranga, New Zealand, are using this book but just into the second week. So far, and peeking ahead, it looks great - tackling the often asked questions and assisting us to think about Jesus is a deeper manner
