Great Music from the later years of a Bluegrass Legend,
By A Customer
This review is from: Essential Lester Flatt & the Nashville (Audio CD)
This Cd was originally released in 1976 as a two record set on CMH records (LP 9002). I think it was his first release on the CMH label. This Cd has twenty titles most are re-records of previous Flatt & Scruggs titles along with some newer songs. His band at the time of this recording featured Paul Warren(fiddle),Curly Seckler(guitar/harmony vocals),Kenny Ingram(banjo),Marty Stuart (mandolin/gutiar),Charlie Nixon (Dobro),and Jack Hicks (bass). Lester's voice on these recordings is generally good and the band's playing is solid. The songs are: 1. I don't care anymore 2. Is it too late now 3.Shuckin the corn 4. The Johnson boys 5.Please don't wake me 6. All the good times are past and gone 7. Drink that Mash and talk that trash 8. Why don't you tell me so 9. Gonna have my self a ball 10. Ballad of Jed Clampett 11. Why did you wander 12. Regina ( this is a really pretty song) 13. I Live The Life Of Riley 14. Foggy Mt Special 15. We Can't Be Darlings anymore 16. I Still Miss Someone (Very pretty fiddle work) 17. Black Eyed Susy (Paul Warren Takes the lead On this) 18. If I should wander back tonight 19.Bummin' an old freight train 20. Thinking about You I hope this information is helpful
