This is a high-quality item that works very well with ordinary socks. I needed help with my "firm" support socks for a few weeks (because I couldn't bend my knee sharply while a wound was healing). I didn't want to pay the higher price for the sock donners that are designed specifically for support socks, so I decided to try this. Bottom line -- it worked! However it was difficult to put the sock on the donner. Also the pressure from the sock caused the plastic opening to shrink, making it a bit harder to put my foot in. If you need help with support socks for the long term, I would recommend buying a product designed especially for support socks.

We tried three other sock aids before finally ending up with this one. It has a cushion on one side that helps the sock to pull up correctly. It is the correct size, and does not have a terry backing to fall apart. And, it lifts the sock much better than the one we purchased at our local medical supply store.

The only problem we had was that once he put the sock on, my husband had to "step over" it to get out of it because of the handle. So, we cut through the handle, and presto, problem was solved.

I assume the handle is for someone who is limited to using one hand ... but it only got in our way.

FYI - after 5 shots in his knee and 4 weeks of physical therapy, we have now graduated to working on an elliptical at our rec center ... maybe one day he won't need the aids, but for now we are grateful!

Edited - a year later. Sadly we still need this little tool, but are glad we found it. When this one wore out (handles fraying, sponge that holds the sock wearing off) this is the model we replaced it with. It lasted well over a year, and we do recommend it.

I have range of motion issues of my right leg after 8 hip surgeries. My previous version of this device broke, so I brought this to replace it. It works fine, except.....the pull straps are too short. I'm only 5'8", and I find them short for me. A taller person might really have a problem. Remember, this device is designed for people with range of motion issues, so short straps are definitely a "short coming". My second issue is that the strap is one big loop. The one I had previously had two pull straps which worked much better. Having said all this, I hope the guy who invented (and hopefully patented this) is sitting on a tropical beach somehwere enjoying the fruits of his design acuity!

Being physically challenged I found that this particular sock aid works quite well. There are several types available but I find this one with a continuous pull strap with handle is made quite well and works the best for me. I recommend this sock aid because the price, quality and ease of use make it a good value.

I wear white high top socks and this product works very well, I don't use the little clips to get the sock all the way on. Even so I only need minor adjusting.
A real back saver.

Item received promptly from Amazon.

I have a few mobility disabilities, so, I purchased a 'sock thing', maybe a year ago. It was flexible, and divided into three 'fingers'
for further flexibility. A fault with it, was it was terry cloth covered, so it wore, and the fabric straps broke from wear. I ordered
a replacement. This (according to the picture attached) was a duplicate of the previous device. Upon arrival, I noticed it was different. The device itself was harder plastic, no fingers, and less flexibility. There were two garter devices to hold I'm guessing stockings, and instead of two independent straps, there was one.
The strap was attached by rivets, and appeared less likely to tear, but the rivets poke through to the inside of the plastic, which could cause some abrasion. In short, the previous device didn't wear well and broke, this new device is more substantial, but more difficult to use, and can cause pain. But, it's what I have, and there are no refunds/exchanges. It works.

Let me tell you, I have spent/wasted as this type of item is a non-returnable item with most sellers. You name the model and type....I've tried it and I can tell you the soft, flexible sock aids just don't work well. The metal stretch, step in, and pull devices over a hundred bucks, don't work as well as this hard plastic pull on sock aid. I LOVE this sock aid. I discovered this model over two years ago and have been using it daily, ever since. It is just fabulous. Works well with knee high stockings, panty hose, and socks. I have found the garters, meant to give you extra traction when pulling up the foot covering of choice, to simply get in my way. I used them in the beginning but found that the stocking/sock was always up and over my heel sufficiently with use of the sock aid alone, to allow me to place my hands down into the stocking or sock and finish smoothing it up my ankle and the rest of my leg. Eventually, I cut the garters off as they were more of an annoyance than an aid and I can't imagine my life without this hard plastic sock aid. Like most things that I've found that REALLY work and do what they are supposed to do, when next you go to buy a new one, they are no longer available, so I ordered four additional and have them in my linen closet as backup for when this one wears out, but I can tell you that after two years of daily use, this first one looks as good as it did the day I bought it. The white canvas strap does get soiled from brushing against the lotion I place on my legs after showering, but the strap launders up beautifully with some laundry detergent placed on a scrub brush. Lay the strap flat, brush until clean. Rinse well, hand to dry and you're good to go the next morning. LOVE this sock aid.
