5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect. I love this shower chair. Sturdy and safe.

2.0 out of 5 stars Shortcomings
The bench seat was missing items and contained the wrong side rails for gripping. It was incomplete so it was never used.

I buy often from Amazon but this is my first review. Why? Because I absolutely love this shower chair. I have MS and find showering to be very difficult; unsafe because of poor balance and tiring because of fatigue. This shower chair has been a welcome aide. It is a very sturdy, strong chair. I felt safe in it as I showered. The arms are essential for anyone who needs support going from a sitting to a standing position. The back is good for stability and safety also. If you have issues of balance, fatigue and/or inability to stand, this shower chair will help you to be safe and comfortable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kept my mother using her shower, September 12, 2009

The arthritis in my mom's knees and lower back were making it really difficult to use the standard tub and shower in her current apartment. She was afraid she's have to move to one with handicapped equipped fixtures, and thats something she didn't want to do. This bench solved that problem. Its high enough on the most extended settings to give her a boost getting up and down plus its very stable and sturdy in the tub. Plus its wide enough to be comfortable. Really relieves the pain and fatigue she was experiencing while taking a shower.

This was an excellent solution for my 86 year old mother who fell and injured her hand. She is able to shower while sitting down without any help. I believe she will continue to use this chair in conjunction with a portable shower head even after she heals. The chair is easy to put together, however, read the directions and look at the picture of it on the box for reference. Only a large Philips screwdriver is required for assembly. We are pleased with the look and sturdy construction of the chair. Also, the chair is lightweight but stable with rubber feet to prevent slippage. The legs are adjustable in height and the handles are helpful while getting in and out of the chair. I think it would be difficult to beat the quality and price of this chair.

Following back surgery, this item was a MUST HAVE. It worked out perfectly. I would advise anyone having back surgery to purchase this item AHEAD of surgery so you have it when you get home from the hospital.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT SHOWER CHAIR for Disabled People!, November 17, 2011

This review is from: Essential Medical Supply Molded Shower Bench with Arms and Back (Health and Beauty)
Hi: Saw this Chair & just has to have it.. AND the Price was Great too!

I am disabled & was having issues with a Short Shower Stool or seat, making it a real pain to stand from a low sitting position. THIS Full size Chair is very Nice.. it is totally adjustable Height wise and with the padded arm rests.. it makes it much easier to get up from a sitting position.

Sturdy construction, built well, Easy enough to put together, I had a friend assemble this item for me. I shop around for this chair & a good price & this one was it. Would recommend it for large size (300 lbs.)people having a hard time standing in the shower .. and the arm rests really help too when getting up .. especially if you don't have a Tub safety rail. I also installed Tub safety strips too instead of a mat.

PS: (The back & arm rests are removable also, if you don't want them).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Safe Chair, September 19, 2010

Bought this chair for my mom who was visiting. She is in a wheelchair and very nervous about getting in/out of shower. She loved this chair. It was very stable, the seat is high enough that it is not as difficult to pull herself up again, and she liked the arm bars for helping her get up. Glad I invested in a better chair--much better than a shower bench for her needs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect solution for my husband, July 9, 2011

This review is from: Essential Medical Supply Molded Shower Bench with Arms and Back (Health and Beauty)
This shower bench arrived within two days of my ordering it. It was packaged well and there were no damaged or missing parts. Although there is no picture on the instructions, I had the picture box standing nearby so I could refer to the 12 step instruction sheet. Unlike some other reviewers, I had no problem assembling this product and referring to the picture on the box helped immensely.

My husband is 90 and has osteoporosis and frequently suffers from lower back problems due to fractures. He has been fighting the idea of a shower chair for almost a year, but finally relented and now wonders why he waited so long to get one. He was using a walker with the rubber feet to help him stand but because he can no longer stand long enough to shower, he sat down in his new chair for this morning's shower and really enjoyed the security it provided. He is glad I chose the chair with the back and he appreciates the padded arms. His shower is a walk-in shower and there is room for the walker if needed while he stands and the new shower chair. If and when I have knee replacement surgery, I will be using it too.

I made the right shower chair selection and would highly recommend this chair to anyone needing additional aid and security while taking a shower.

The chairs height is adjustable. Helps getting out of it alittle easier when you don't have to sit to low.

For whaevert reason, the chair that had the arm rests included was cheaper than the chair without, so I purchased the one with them, thinking I could just leave the arm rests off if I didn't want them and save about $20. I ended up liking the arm rests installed.

I am 5'10" tall and telescoped the legs as high as they would go for comfort in sitting. I weigh about 260, and the chair's capacity is 300 pounds. There is also a similar chair available but with crossbars for the legs and a capacity of 500 pounds. This particular chair that I purchased suits me fine. It is made of lightweight aluminum, was easily assembled, and I would definitely recommend purchasing it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Product with an Excellent Price, March 9, 2012

This review is from: Essential Medical Supply Molded Shower Bench with Arms and Back (Health and Beauty)
My father fell and broke his hip and needed a chair he could sit on while he showered. The hospital provided us with a book of medical equipment and this exact same chair was listed in that book for over a hundred dollars more than the price listed on Amazon. THANK YOU AMAZON! So as far as price, it gets five stars. My only MINOR issues are: 1)One of the screw heads was broken off (no biggie, as this was the fifth screw and the four other screws were enough to attach the seat securely to the legs. 2) The product is stable and I have no worries that it was collapse, however, it does have a slight instability to it. 3)The instructions did not include pictures. They were however, easy to follow as all the parts are numbered and the instructions references those numbers. My only advice is to read them. I tried to put the chair together without doing so and would of saved myself a few retries if I would of read them right from the start. All in all this is a good product with an excellent price.
