I have had to stay in a nursing home recently and keep my foot elevated. They want me to take blood thinners and I got a bad bruise over my coccyx. They have hard mattresses and no pads, so I bought one of these pads out of self defense.
First thing I noticed was that it was shedding all around the edges. This is a woven product with fleece and they have not whipped an edge on it (like they do with knit clothing, for example) so the edge disassembles from friction. Had they finished the edge with a serger, I would have given the item 5 stars, but since it is just a cut piece of fleece, that cost it a star. I have owned a real sheepskin and this is not one. But it has provided excellent padding, and the bruise on my coccyx is healing nicely. I am happy that it is washable and happy that it is soft. I wish it was as soft as a real sheepskin and as unwashable. But it was inexpensive and the treatment for a bedsore would have been way more expensive than this fleece.

While recovering from hipreplacement surgery I could not turn but to one side, which was difficult. My heels were getting sore and so was my sacrum. I bought Sheepette synthetic lambskin and was much more comfortable. Mine was twin bed size, washable and comfortable. Can't compare it to the real thing, as I would not use a skin. Synthetic worked fine.

this is close as it gets to a real sheepskin without the sheepskin price, it is very realistic as compared to other pads like the posey items, very soft, i have it on my bed as a sleeping surface and its very cozy ,soft, and warm, keeps surface of contact on bed distributed evenly, warm when its cool and when its hot no waking up with back sticking to bed from sweating because great air circulation, ankle bones and knees and hip bones aren't digging into bed like sleeping on a cloud, does a fine job and i recommend it highly
