How do we get this Verdi Requiem on CD?, February 27, 2008

In 1980 or 1981, Caballe, Domingo and Zubin Mehta recorded the Verdi Requiem for CBS/Sony. The performance has never been on CD, but the excerpt on this album proves that it should be. Caballe was in great voice, and Domingo was fantastic. The rest of the cast is more than adequate. As Caballe's earlier Verdi Requiem performance is NLA, can Sony BMG be persuaded to issue this performance, even in "download-only" (such as Universal Classics are doing) or in "handmade" limited editions (as Rhino is doing)?The other performances on this "essential" album are drawn from Caballe's recorded legacy for Sony and RCA. Although many fans will already have them, some may not--and this is a great collection of the familiar and the more obscure. Recommended for fans of great "golden age" singing.
