More About the Author

I'm Dan Eitreim and I worked as a professional photographer running my own photo studio for over 20 years. I've never apprenticed or worked for any other photographers. Because of this, I've had to learn and develop my photography skills on my own.

My first attempts were dismal to say the least...so I studied, practiced and developed my photo skills and along the way I not only learned how to put the "wow" into my photos, but I've also learned how to teach others to do the same!

To that end I've created a 20 volume series of photo training lessons that I've titled: "On Target Photo Training".

I worked out of my home did my photo session on location - which means that I spent most of the day in my car! With the economy being what it is, gas expense quickly became a major concern. I started doing a lot of research on ways to save money at the gas pumps and the e-book: "54 Ways To Save Money On Gas" was born.

I enjoy creating e-books and expect to be developing more!

Eventually I hope to have my own studio. So this book is a great way to learn some posing secrets. I am so thankful for these books. They are easy to read and easy to put into practice.

Dan is good at making you think about the details. It is in the details that generally makes a photograph go from good to great.

The "Essential Posing Secrets" eBook by Dan Eitreim is easy to read and understand. It has more information than just Posing secrets. I find that by adding other photo related secrets to be a bonus. This book will definitely benifit anyone wanting to improve upon or begin doing portrait photography and a WHOLE lot more. Thanks again Dan for sharing your many years of photography experience in this way.

A good quick resource full of tips to help make portraits, group and individual, more interesting. There's nothing in here that's going to surprise anyone with substantial experience, but the basics are essential and often bear repeating.

I'm pretty much posting this same review for all of this series I've read so far. They have several characteristics in common, and it holds true for each of them. It's obvious the author Dan Eitreim knows the subjects. Each of the books has probably 70 to 80% of what you could expect to learn from just reading any book on an aspect of photography. Taken as a whole the series represents a worthwhile resource to advance your photography knowledge or technique.

He makes the ebooks available at very significant discount on a rotating basis. Subscribing to his email newsletter brings you photography tips, and a heads up when a discounted book becomes available. I find this method has good points and bad points.
Good points: Very affordable, can acquire just the subjects of interest, not an overwhelming amount of information at one time. Easy to read.

Bad points: Every book has 30 to 35% taken up with an off subject 15% lead in, and 20% lead out. After 20 books the novelty of this has worn off.

The series of 20+ books (minus the boiler plate and perhaps edited a little) would make good chapters in a single very respectable textbook on photography. Certainly worth your time to read. If in a hurry to learn about a specific subject and can't wait for the rotation, it's likely worth your money too.

A good book for aspiring portrait photographers. It gives essential pro info that will give you a head start
by learning the basics of good photography. I am a rather accomplished photographer and this book
taught me a lot about posing models and making better more salable pics. I especially liked his advice
to keep on shooting experimenting to find that "money shot".

Reading his tips was educational for a newbie photographer like me. Darned if I didn't open a magazine and find dozens of examples of posing techniques after studying his book. I'm planning on posing my son for his senior portrait and I'm sure it will be improved just by the tips gleaned. Btw I enjoy the asides Eitram gives with each book. In prior books using red, Kodak yellow and Fuji green film and in this book, Richard Avedon and his boa constrictor picture. Well worth my time besides being educational it's also entertaining.

Unfortunately this "book" was very disappointing. It was a 20 minute read with more jokes than tips, and more advertising for the author's numerous other books than photographs portraying the concept. Author devoted very little time to posing techniques and instead rambled on about squinting, wearing hats, the background of graduation hats, etc. Very little usable content.

Would not recommend, especially if you're not interested in purchasing every other guide this author has for sale!
