The Essential
Double-cd set spanning Rory's solo years.Good mix of live & studio tracks
including some of his best acoustic material.All-out rockers like Cradle Rock,Shadow Play and Follow Me ride alongside smokin' bluesrockers such as Laundromat,Bullfrog Blues and Loanshark Blues. Some low-down & dirty,
slow blues with I Could've Had Religion,from a smouldering live set.Really
you can't go wrong here.Good sound.

I was previously unaware of Rory Gallagher. He is a great guitar player who reminds me of Deep Purple's Ritchie Blackmore. This music certainly isn't Blues, but can be classified as Blues-Rock. Favorites of mine are "Wheels Within Wheels", "As The Crow Flies", "Edged In Blue" and "Loanshark Blues". Please pick up this album if you are interested in hearing an Irish Blues-Rock musician with excellent guitar skills and a solid voice. He certainly beats anything Thorogood has done in ages!

Rory gives it his all when he plays, the more I hear his music the more I love it. He would have given Eric Clapton a lesson or two on how to play to a crowd and make them want more. I'm one of Eric's fan who thinks he the best ever, now Rory's # 1 and Eric # 2. Fantastic player. Too bad about Rory's career ended so early.
