One of the best to come from New Zealand...., March 11, 2004
This review is from: Essential (Audio CD)
Ever since I first heard "Soviet Snow" back in the late
80's, I just had to find everything I could from this
talented singer/songwriter/musician from New Zealand.
She's been at this business since she was young winning
songwriting contests in her homeland and gave the big
time a shot over in Europe during the 80's, hitting the
USA shores with her "Glad I'm not a Kennedy" single, which
was played allot on radio. Never aspiring to be a top 40
act she carved her own place in the music world singing
about our planet wows and about love and life. I still
put her music on and this new double Cd Essential Shona
is all her best from over the years and well worth it to
have in your collection. I have many favorites and new
ones I had never heard her perform. "Across the Irish Sea"
is a great addition from her mid 90's cd "Roadworks" that
was next to impossible to find, unless you search in New
Zealand music online. A truly gifted songwriter and singer
and excellent human being, I hope she gets more music out
in the future and play here again in the states. I recently
bought several Cds from a fellow musical friend whom she
produced, Mahinarangi Tocker. Shona is still out there
alive and well.
