4.0 out of 5 stars The Original Sonny Boy, April 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Essential (Audio CD)
As most harp players know this is the original Sonny Boy who recorded long before Sonny Boy Williamson II(Rice Miller). This is a good selection of songs that I've heard on other collections. Missing are the classics he wrote like Good Morning Little Schoolgirl, Hoodoo Man Blues. However in the liner notes on the collections I have he is accompanied by people like Big Maceo, Big Bill Broonzy(a close friend) and Tampa Red. Well worth a listen, try Elevator Woman. This man was a big influence on Junior Wells.
