I listened to the 3 CD set of this book, which was abridged, although retaining the depth of what the author had originally prepared. He has synthesized the world's religions, and found common elements (the seven central practices). Dr. Walsh (whose voice kept reminding me of Jimmy Carter's) does a great job in providing a wide range of examples of each of these principles. For example, we know what it means to have a focused mind, yet Dr. Walsh's discussion of this practice shed light and promoted greater understanding.

His work transcends any one religion, which is perfect for people like me who don't resonate with an established church. His examples come from around the world, and are completely nonjudgemental. The minute I finished listening to the book, I began listening a second time. It might well take two listenings to absorb everything -- there is that much information. I recommend it to seekers everywhere.
