A sense of celebration-Mmmmmmmmmmmm,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Essential Kama Sutra (Hardcover)
I would hazard a guess there must be about a ten thousand books that have been written claiming to be based on the Kama Sutra and claiming insight and enlightenment.
For the most part they are written in either complete ignorance or denial of all the real foundations of the Kama Sutra and Tantric practice. Most of the publications claiming to be based on the Kama Sutra are in reality, just gratuitous ways to exploit the buying public's small minded obsession with sex. These books should be classified as `cute publications showing new sex positions for unimaginative people who get their jollies exploring new sex positions', normally sanitized to the point of not showing genitals and, by doing so, reflecting the dysfunctional values that created the obsession in the first place, as if genitals are taboo, improper or, worse still unhygienic or dirty or something. If people want to publish that sort of book well that's cool, but can you do a weekend workshop and become a Monk? Will a 3 month part time course make you a Martial Arts Master? Will an instruction book of sexual positions give you an understanding of Spirituality found and manifesting via Sexuality? Happily, this book differs from most of the others I've just described. Firstly it's not scared to show penetration. Just as gratuitous displays of penetration is as offensive as the sterile and prudish avoidance of showing it, a book detailing the Kama Sutra and avoiding showing penetration is almost comical. The Kama Sutra without an erect penis or welcoming vagina anywhere to be seen is a sure sign of a book that's best classified as a doorstop or a coffee cup coaster. More importantly, this book talks to the participants about their feelings, how the positions affected them, physically felt etc. Between that and the fact the participants looked happy, blissed out even, and look like they were having a great time, suggests they were even beginning on the path of the Kama Sutra and Tantric knowledges, a sensation none of the other texts I have ever seen have given me. Most books claiming to be based on the Kama Sutra are only useful as landfill but this one created for me the sense of shared celebration, united in intimacy and shared spiritual release from the constraints of life's tedium, which is what an introduction to the Kama Sutra should do, orgasm should be more than a sneeze response!! It makes the other texts I've seem claiming to be based on the Kama Sutra look more like instruction manuals for tedious activity. Thank You to those responsible for this publication. Cheers Lloyd

This review is from: The Essential Kama Sutra (Hardcover)
I bought this book and other like minded books to leave out at my sister's bachelorette party. Everyone loved this book! It's the only book that showed actual penetration in real photos and in drawings. It also had some off the wall stuff like a foot job(just imagine give a hand job with your feet).
