5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and also Greg Anderson's book The Cancer Conquerer, January 30, 1999
This review is from: 50 Essential Things to Do when the Doctor Says It's Cancer (Plume) (Paperback)
I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer Stage 3+ and given 6 months to live. That was five years ago. My daughter, a nurse, bought both of these books for me which I read with voracity. I also turned to prayer and positive thinking. I am still here, doing fine and trying to instill hope in others.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was devastated. A friend, a 10 year breast cancer survivor, brought this book to me. I wrapped it in a paper book cover because I didn't want anyone to know I had cancer. I read the book and it changed my life. I took most of the 50 suggestions to heart and I am a survivor. I highly recommend this book for all people who have a diagnisis of cancer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Guiding and comforting...When you first get the word..Cancer, January 15, 1998

My cancer happened so fast and before I knew it, I had a lung removed. After I came out of the hospital, I bought this book and it has really helped me in dealing with the stages of the disease. I highly recommend it to anyone who learns they have cancer and/or any friend, relative, spouse etc., of someone who does. It will help in their journey to survival. Buy this and read it as soon as you know of the cancer and read it again and set up the wellness journal.. It will help...I guarantee it...

Of all the books I bought or was given after my diagnosis, this is the one that I connected with. It is written in a language anyone can understand. It is not frightening rather, empowering. I can't believe that I am now ordering my 12th, 13th, and 14th copies because sadly, I give them as gifts when someone I know is diagnosed. Too many - but Thank God we have Greg!

This review is from: 50 Essential Things to Do when the Doctor Says It's Cancer (Plume) (Paperback)
Hearing the doctor say, "It's cancer," is a devastating experience. Greg Anderson shows a proven plan, based on the actions taken by hundreds of cancer survivors, for recovering from the devastation--and the cancer! From gaining the vital understanding that having cancer does not automatically mean dying (no matter WHAT the doctor said!) and knowing the difference between statistics and you, to taking effective charge of your conventional medical treatment, to harnessing exercise, diet, meditation and the joy of living to effect your healing, "50 Essentials" is a practical manual for living a great life and fighting to become cancer-free.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very important book to read!, August 26, 2009
This review is from: 50 Essential Things to Do when the Doctor Says It's Cancer (Plume) (Paperback)
This is a belated review - I read this book 8 years ago when I was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 48. Now, I am recommending it to a friend who has the same diagnosis. Of all the advice I got from others when I was reeling with disbelief and shock, the suggestion to read this book was one of the best and somehow I even have TWO copies on my bookshelf. It takes your focus from the statistics which can seem very gloomy (let's see I have a 50% chance of not being alive in 5 years), to the survivor approach (half of us will still be here and I'm going to be in that half!). In writing this review and passing along the info I have, I am trying to "pay it forward" because I got so much support and so many good suggestions.
