This book provides a refreshing approach to human spirituality. The author chooses to examine the ways in which varying cultures are similar (regarding spiritual matters), rather than focusing on the differences. He successfully illustrates that many long sought-after truths are universal world-wide. Das explores ancient traditions and explains that humans have been engaged in these persuits over a vast period of time as well as great distances. It is humbling to realize that modern, Western traditions are neither unique nor original.

Althought it is a little scattered, the information in this book is INVALUABLE. It is an excellent resource for learning about the common core of the world's religions. I was writing an essay on the similarities of the world's religions and my wife brought home a copy of this book from the used book store. That was 10 years ago and I have referred to this book thousands of times since then.

this is a reprint. the author is pre-'its here now', and a different person with same name. ignore the 'bogus' comment below.

Ive been reading the book and its good. The quality of he hard cover is good also. Even though you can tell it was reproduced, its still in good condition. I'm glad they reprinted but it comes to mind if tthey have everything and did not omit anything.
