This is a fantastic edition of some of Spurgeon's gems. I have all these in hard copy but having this on Kindle is great. Of course you will find these works in other Kindle editions but I had to write this review to give special recognition to 'GLH Publishing' for doing a superb job. The active TOC is a must for any work of this size.
My presumption to comment on the contents would be ridiculous. Anyone familiar with Spurgeon knows that his writings are top notch. Whether you agree with Spurgeon's theology or not you HAVE TO read his works for your opinions to be taken seriously.
A quick word to those who would desist from reading Spurgeon because they are not Christians. Be you a Muslim, or a Hindu, or a Zoroastrian, or a Buddhist, or a Atheist, or a Agnostic; you are sure to ennoble yourself. Spurgeon's writing style, besides being pertinent is great literature. Don't pass this up. Very highly recommended.
Overall, it's looking pretty good. There are two formatting issues I'm running into on the Kindle, however - In the active table of contents, each book is titled "Book", which makes it sort of hard to know which book I'm looking for! Also, in Morning and Evening, if you advance page by page, you'll stay with the "morning" or "evening" formatting, without going back and forth chronologically. It'd be nice if they'd fix that. :)
If a person is a budding theologian or preacher he will find Spurgeon edifying and delightful! But if a person is a 'run of the mill' growing Christian, he or she will find edification & enrichment of his or her spiritual life once one adjusts to Spurgeon's style. So glad to have this on my Kindle. - MLF, Th.M. NT, DTS
I love reading Charles Spurgeon. I have some of his books, but this offered many I don't have. I like the fact that they are in the English he used. I like reading the old English and thinking about what he meant by how he said it.
This is one book that I'd encourage anyone who is serious about their spiritual growth as a christian, to get. Great and easy to understand teaching, which complements your bible reading, and is deeply edifying. Let one of the old Bible Teachers speak into your life.
Like all of Spurgeon's works, even compilations of his works, the Prince of Preachers had a grasp of, and a gift of presenting, God's Word that few, if any, have succeeded in paralleling. It's Spurgeon...need I say more?
