As practicing psychiatrist I find this work useful in understanding the mental states we all have. Even thought this body of work was written over a hundred years ago William James's examination of mental function is relevent even today. This book is an excellant overview of his work. I am reading it for a philosophy class and I highly recommend this collection of writings althought it is not an easy read.
