A good book not for beginners, not for pros,
By William Hart (Arlington, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Essentials of Human Diseases and Conditions, 1e (Paperback)
Essentials of Human Diseases and Conditions looks and reads much like my college anatomy and physiology text with a good glossary and many colorful illustrations. It does not have pre- or post- tests, or chapter objectives or reviews. The book is easy on the eyes and easy to browse; not formatted as a crowded exhaustive reference. The book is a well organized and indexed study of the most common human diseases (Cushings syndrome is represented, pheochromocytoma is not.) The text is arranged by the human body systems. The diseases of each system are presented first with discussion of symptoms and indications, then origin and cause, then methods of diagnosis, and finally treatment The book's preface indicates it was written for "students of clinical medicine in the fields of medical assisting, medical transcription, insurance coding and other allied health programs who have had an introduction to basic anatomy and physiology of the human body and to medical terminology". I do agree there are prerequisites to the text; it is not a "home and family" reference. I am a degreed medical radiological technologist with some years of experience and wanted a quick reference to review the disease processes of some of the patients I do CTs on. The book is useful but not as complete as I would like. I will need to supplement it with an extensive, harder on the eyes and harder to browse reference.

This book is great to me but my teacher says it's missing alot of information. However it is easy to read, and comprehend.

Good book not what I needed,
This review is from: Essentials of Human Diseases and Conditions, 4e (Essentials of Human Diseases & Conditions) (Paperback)
The book is very helpful, it breaks down terminology better then the book I need for the class. I often use this book instead of the book for the class, even with my homework.

I am really satisfied and happy with the service. The book is also almost new. There is no marks in the book though it was used previously. Thank you

Price new was significantly cheaper than used price at school bookstore and didn't have to pay for shipping. Best way to buy school books and save cash, and saved trouble of going to bookstore by having it delivered directly to me.

No Hassles,
This review is from: Essentials of Human Diseases and Conditions, 4e (Essentials of Human Diseases & Conditions) (Paperback)
I would definately recommend anyone who has never used amazon.com to order a textbook to do so. It was extremely easy, no hassles & it arrived very quickly. I also messed up when I ordered and gave a po box instead of physical address but, they resolved it quickly without any glitches.
