3.0 out of 5 stars Not What I Expected At All
Well I guess I should have read the back cover, right? I was reading the other two books in this set of 3 Strebor Quickiez and I figured this one had to be great as well. . . well it wasn't. I don't see why Zane let this book in her group of Quickiez, this book should be in Si-Fi or something. I am not really for all the demon, possessed, supernatural, scary, unknown,...

1.0 out of 5 stars This book should have a different title!, December 17, 2009
It wasn't what i expected at all. I didn't care for the demonic or afterlife parts. When I first started reading, I thought it was going to be very exciting until the changes in FL. I didn't like how it ended either. This was my first purchase without reading the reviews.

Well I guess I should have read the back cover, right? I was reading the other two books in this set of 3 Strebor Quickiez and I figured this one had to be great as well. . . well it wasn't. I don't see why Zane let this book in her group of Quickiez, this book should be in Si-Fi or something. I am not really for all the demon, possessed, supernatural, scary, unknown, ghost, coming back to life type of thing. I honestly don't even see how the title relates to the contents of the book at all, it was not at all what I was expecting. Welp, like the other two reviews say Morton is a private eye. He is hired by this young golddigging African American woman suspects that her old rich Caucasian husband is cheating. Once Morton tells her he isn't, she asks him to kill her husband. Meanwhile, Morton ends up talking to the husband while trailing him and soon enough the old man asks Morton to kill the wife. Some freaky demonic unexplainable stuff happens, like sucking the life out of people by having sex with them oh and it all relates back to slavery on the old mans plantation. I wouldn't recommend this book unless you are remotely interested in the paranormal. It ends abruptly as well leaving unanswered questions. Good luck with this one. The ONLY good book I have read that I've liked with this Si-Fi kinda theme was "The Enchantress" by Allison Hobbs, it relates back to slavery as well but her book is AWESOME!

4.0 out of 5 stars Dark and Refreshing, April 8, 2009

This review is from: The Raw Essentials of Human Sexuality (Strebor Quickiez) (Paperback)
Morton is a private investigator working on a case involving a young wife who thinks her much older husband is cheating on her. When Morton can find no incriminating evidence to support her cause, she asks him to kill her husband. Not only does he find the request unbelievable, he also has to deal with the fact he has slept with his client who probably did so in order for him to do her bidding. Of course Morton turns her down, but agrees to continue to follow the husband. However, after meeting him he finds himself enthralled with the man, and then the adventure begins. Morton's life takes on an unbelievable quality and will be forever changed.

THE RAW ESSENTIALS OF HUMAN SEXUALITY is a short story that grabs your attention from the very beginning. The plot and pacing are riveting, and the storyline so unbelievable that it becomes plausible. The novel is a mix of paranormal, darkness, history, sexuality and pure evil, so much so, one is amazed so much could happen in a short number of pages. The brevity of the pages takes nothing away from this captivating story because of Bernard's descriptions and his ability to put the reader right in the middle of the action. He is able to make one's heart beat faster as they are propelled into the erotic and darkness that Morton experiences and you will still think about the metaphoric message of the story long after the book is closed.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Thought-Provoking Novella, February 28, 2009
This review is from: The Raw Essentials of Human Sexuality (Strebor Quickiez) (Paperback)
Morton is a detective that is caught between a rock and a hard place when his lover wants him to kill her husband. Morton isn't sure if he wants to finish this assignment especially when he meets his lover's husband face to face. Soon, a series of unexplained supernatural events takes Morton back through his family's tragic history. As Morton digs deeper into his past, he finds out that some things may be better left undiscovered.

The Raw Essentials of Human Sexuality is a thought-provoking novella by D.V. Bernard. Bernard takes the reader on a fast-paced journey into the past and present. There are some erotic elements that will keep you on your toes in the beginning of this story but that's where the eroticism ends. The rest of this novella has a very heavy supernatural theme that you will need to pay attention to. This story is more of a horror/sci-fi book than a erotic one. The Raw Essentials of Human Sexuality is an interesting novella for those who are looking for something a little different.
