This book was disappointing. Most of the "Essentials" series are indeed just that -- essential, in both meanings (necessary and capturing the essence). I use them frequently when performing assessments.
However, this book provides little insight in interpretation of the Millon inventories. Rather, it is an explanation of the scenarios in which a practitioner would use the different inventories, e.g. which audience or situation would be appropriate for a MACI as opposed to a MAPI. It does not provide clarification into the interpretation of the tests. [...] If you want more information on how to interpret the MCMI, get Millon's "Personalized Psychotherapy Approach" series. You will need all 3 books. While the series is not as straightforward in helping you interpret the MCMI as the "Essentials of the MMPI" book is to interpreting the MMPI, the series will give you much more information than the Millon website. The books aren't cheap, but if you do assessment and have a psychodynamic orientation, they are worth the expense.

I agree completely with the previous review of this work. Essentials of MIllon Inventories would be helpful to a graduate student that is learning appropriate test selection and situations when to use each of the tests. However, I was greatly disappointed with the lack of detail that this work provides on each of the tests. I would be so bold to argue that you don't even get the "Essentials" leaving this book better left as a paperweight.
