Nothing less than excellence,
By Kevin J. Martin "K-Mart" (St Charles, MO United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Essentials of Musculoskeletal Care (Hardcover)
I am a Family Practitioner in a rural setting. I have an extensive medical library, however I only have 1 copy of each book...except this one.I have a copy in both offices and one at home. The ONLY way to improve this book would be to make it free. And for what it is worth, Dr. Greene is one of the most pleasurable orthopedic surgeons on Earth to speak with. He knows more about the Human anatomy than God, yet NEVER belittles the questions he gets from us rural FP's

Easy to use,
By A Customer
This review is from: Essentials of Musculoskeletal Care (Hardcover)
This book is easy to understand. I work in a large orthopaedic surgical practice and have to get procedures approved with insurance companies on a daily basis. This book breaks down everything (signs, symptoms, what they mean) into terms that can be explained in everyday terms. It makes my job a lot easier and I have to ask the doctors less questions because this book tells me what everything means, how the doctors came to the diagnosis they did, etc. Most people that work with doctors know that they don't always tell how they know what they know. This book makes it easier. I call it "Orthopaedics for Dummies". I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to get a better understandng of the musculoskeletal system.

Must-Have for the internist,

The feature I like best about this book is the frontspiece to each chapter. It shows pictures of the relevant body part, with shaded areas that correlate to the pain produced by common problems.
It also gives succinct treatment options and prognostics. I have often taken it into the room to show my patients. The quick overview of procedures is also excellent. This is the first textbook I bought for my own practice and I use it daily. Highly recommended.

And this is the third Must-Have book for primary providers,
By Rafa (Sometimes Fort Bragg, sometimes Central Asia) - See all my reviews

Just like the other two books, Habif's Dermatology and Current MDT, Essentials is always on the top of my packing list when I go to the military field exercises or during deployments. It's like having an on-call consult all the time. In Essentials, I like the beginning of each chapter with drawings of different sources of pain; it's like a graphic representation of differential diagnosis. Buy these books; you will use them again and again.

Essentials of Musculoskeletal Care,

If you're going to be in practice, you had better own this book. Every general practice physician I know owns this book, and every mid-level provider ought to have one, as well. Concise, easy to read/understand, discusses complaints by body region, includes IDC-9 codes.

An excellent overview of orthopaedics, with good sections on numerous conditions and injuries. Easy to use reference with attractive layout and introductory illustrations. I took off one point because the diagnostic images (x-ray, MRI, CT, etc) could be improved.

Musculosketal Care,

I am satisfied with the book. I was a little disapointed that it did not have color pictures. However for the new practitioner it is very thorough and has the basics.
