Required Textbook, GREAT companion CD. Lots of interactive questions on the cd to prepare for tests. The textbook was required - and was a good overview of mental health nursing. Lots of good, illustrative charts, tables and highlighted information popouts. End of chapter questions and chapter summations/goals.

I am taking Psych nursing this semester and this is one of the best books I have used throughout the whole nursing program. It is very informative, easy to read, and gives you enough information without overdoing it! The only negative is that I have heard that this book used to have a Pharmocology section and this new edition does not. It has some pharm but its spread throughout th book. Otherwise I would recommend this book to every nursing student or anyone interested in psych nursing!

Get Foundations of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing: A Clinical Approach, 6e, by Elizabeth M. Varcarolis instead. It's a green and orange book. It's far more informative. This one is okay if you just want to get an overall picture of mental health nursing. It's probably a good book for someone who is not a nursing student, but who is thinking about becoming one at some point. It's very broad.

So far this book is everything I expected it to be. Very easy to ready. I like how certain areas around the text have vocab words high lighted. I also like the chapter reveiw at the end of each chapter and the NCLEX type questions at the end of the chapter. Goes very well with the semister of school im in for nursing.

excellent reference for new and not-so new psych nurses. I bought it to use as reference for new nurses and it has proven to be very helpful. It hits the high points and allows nurses to get the idea without slogging through too much information. Highly recommended.

This is an easy read, but the information is all readily available online. Unless you need a beginners view of psychiatric nursing, you could probably just do a little research for your classes and live without it. Nice book though!

I'm using this updated textbook to review for board certification in mental health/psychiatric nursing. Has all the bases covered and is easy to read. Just a couple more chapters to read and I'll be ready for test day.

This book helped me to better understand mental health and it broke down a lot of concepts. However, it was a little wordy in some areas instead of directly stating the concept.
