One of the best primers I have read so far on SCM. While not a blue-print on how to implment SCM, it really does provide an excellent overview of the benefits of SCM and the steps a company would take to introduce SCM. One of the best sections of the book introduces new trends within SCM. This section alone made the book a good investment. Recommend it for top management looking to get a good, but basic understanding of SCM

I picked up this book to help with an online course on basic supply chain. It was so easy to read and understand. There are a lot of references to real world businesses and even other books and software solutions. The IT Section was great on talking about real software solutions to handle everything from forecasting to logistics.
As an import specialist this book was great for helping me identify possible improvements for my company to help manage inventory and demand.

This book provides a good overview of the basic principles of supply Chain Managment. After reading the book, I was able to directly apply the principles to solve several problems in supply chains I am dealing with in my supplier development job.

The principles are logically presented and backed up with examples that illustrate their application. I would recommend this book especially for people in Manufacturing or engineering who are trying to understand how to improve performance across a supply chain or how to make their supply chain management process more efficient and effective.

This book provides an excellent introduction on supply chain with the right depth and right amount.

The book focuses on operational and tactical aspects of supply chain management. The coverage is clear, logical and highlights key points well. Each chapter ends with a summary. There is a wealth of figures, tips and techniques and explanatory "boxes", all of which are concise, relevant and useful.

The book provides excellent overview of the foundational principles Supply Chain Management. Another feature that I enjoyed about this book is that is was not to "wordy". As you read it you never feel as though the author has tried to squeeze extra pages into the book. It delivers the information you need and in the right doses for an overview of SCM. I work in a supply chain that touches 5 continents and the principles the author has explained are just as true in mine as they would be in a supply chain that only exists inside of a single city. Also, in enjoyed the small cases studies that are mixed into the book.

An excellent book.. is very informative with a clear logical structure. It gives a perfect overview of the basics and principles of the supply chain management. Helps me a lot in writing my Master Thesis... Good luck to everybody!

This book provides a good, concise overview that points the way for additional reading. It contains many useful tips and techniques. The case studies could have been more detailed.

Chapter 1 - A good briefing on the importance of getting the supply chain correctly aligned to the markets.

Chapter 2 - Highlights the four business operations that drive the supply chain. The sourcing operation could have dealt with more in more depth.

Chapter 3 - A reminder that outsourcing is an option.

Chapter 4 - Using Information Technology, the holy grail.

Chapter 5 - How to measure for improvement. A useful market quadrant framework is provided to assist with identification of the market a company serves.

Chapter 6 - The benefits of collaboration to improve supply chain co-ordination.

Chapter 7 - Supply chain opportunities, pulls all the previous topics together with many useful tips and techniques.

Chapter 8 - Supply chains for competitive advantage - useful pointers to assist with identifying the improvements that should be prioritized.

Chapter 9 - Real time supply chain - creating a learning system. This chapter would benefit from mored detailed case studies.

Se entienden rapidamente los conceptos principales, un buen libro de comienzo en el tema.

I was interested in reading the general overview on SCM to do a more structured learning on this subject. This book did not disappoint me.
