Book Description

June 22, 1994 Worksmart Series
Lots of managers want to "get up to speed" on total quality but don't know where to start. This guide aims to reduce the elusive TQM process and features self-assessment tools, an interactive format and a glossary of essential terms. It covers: how the total quality movement got started, including Deming's 14 points, Juran's philosophy and the three elements of TQM; how to use accepted quality tools and techniques to implement TQM; and what all employees can do - from the mail room to the board room - to improve quality in their organization.

5.0 out of 5 stars TQM made simple!!, March 12, 1999

Dr. Williams' approach to the concepts of TQM are easy to understand and simple to follow. I couldn't put the book down. I've passed out many copies to business associates and friends. This book should be on EVERY executives desk!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Too simple, December 18, 2000

I've generally found AMACOM books to be very good. This is a good book, just very simple, as I suspect are all of the books in the WorkSmart series (I've read 3). You can read this completely in one evening.

If you've never heard of TQM, this book will have some value to you. If you've read anything on TQM, you have probably covered most of what's in this book. A good "second" book, that you can read in place of this or following, is "Principles and Practices of Organizational Performance Excellence", by Thomas Cartin, an excellent book.
