Essentials of Ultrasound Physics..An exceptional aid!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Essentials Of Ultrasound Physics, 1e (Paperback)
Any individual preparing for the ARDMS exams in diagnostic medical ultrasound need look no further. At last, a book that is readable, easy to follow (actually follows the ARDMS physics outlline) and is very well illustrated with interesting and intuitive diagrams. The author has the rare talent of translating an extremely complex subject into everyday, understandable language.

Great Book,

This review is from: Essentials Of Ultrasound Physics, 1e (Paperback)
This is an amazingly well organized, thorough book, exactly in the sprit of the ARDMS Physics and Instrumentation exam.
All issues that are relevant to the exam are well discussed in this book. For someone who started with very little knowledge of the material, I scored nearly 90% thanks in large part to the preparation possible through this book.

Works well for ARDMS,
This review is from: Essentials Of Ultrasound Physics, 1e (Paperback)
Now that I finished my ARDMS abdomen exam, I can say this book was adequate preparation for this test. I am a physician so perhaps have a different background than the average reader, but I found the book very easy to read, with enough ultrasound images in the practice test portion of the book. This was the only book I used to prepare for the exam, and I scored 92%. There are occasional factual errors, mostly confined to the practice test, as well as rare typographical errors (that I noticed). Also the CDROM that comes with the book (containing the same practice exam as the text) has a tendency to repeat questions even when specifically set not to do so.
Overall, a good way to spend time and money if passing the ARDMS-abdomen is your goal.

Great layman's review of Medical Ultrasound Physics,
By
This review is from: Essentials Of Ultrasound Physics, 1e (Paperback)
I found this book very useful to get a birds-eye understanding of the physics behing medical ultrasound. The author uses metaphorical examples and images very nicely throughout the book to provide a very clear yet concise review of the subject matter. This book is not for you if you are looking for detailed mathematical analysis of ultrasound wave acoustics and beamforming.

Confusing Title Misleads Searchers,
By A Customer
This review is from: Essentials Of Ultrasound Physics, 1e (Paperback)
We cannot review this book's contents, for it is not what we were looking for when we ordered it. Because ~ the book's title is confusing for people not already experts in the field of high-frequency sound. The overall field we were looking for, we now know, is ultra-SONICS. Whereas, the application of high-frequency sound to medicine is known as ultra-SOUND. The author of this book named it, a bit imprecisely, we think: "Essentials of Ultrasound Physics" The word "physics" in this title implies broad theoretical discussion (i.e. ultra-SONICS), whereas the books is actually limited to (medical) ultra-sound. Searchers, suggest you use search words "ultra-SONICS" if you want to find broad materials on "high frequency sound" applications. |
