I visited NY City a couple of years ago and while I was there I went to get my nails done. I got a french manicure (which I always do) but this particular salon used this color as a top coat. I looooooved my nails with this color. I said to myself "this is the polish I am going to where on my wedding day." Although I had no idea when that day was going to be, this polish just was so beautiful, it automatically made me think wedding day. I am not a polish person, I stick to the basics, but this is a great polish if you still want to keep it nice, professional, classy and beautiful all at the same time!!!

This review is for Essie's Borrowed and Blue, a very pale blue (not baby blue, but Easter/Spring/Summer gorgeous blue that makes your tan pop!)

This polish is gorgeous. It's not too gray, not too white, not too blue. The pigment is well-mixed, does not go on streaky, had no trouble with bubbles. This is an OPAQUE color by Essie. Two coats is more than enough for coverage. Add a self-leveling top coat such as Seche Vite and your nails will look great for a relatively long time. No chipping and came off very easily with acetone--I think I was able to get away with using only one cotton ball to remove! It does not stain your nails (there isn't really enough pigment for that) and it's appropriate for work, beach, interview, you name it. If you have a tan, this polish will really pop!

Highly recommended.

Following a long search for a perfect iridescent lavender pink, I found this one on several blogs! It does give off various subtle hues of pink and lavender up close with good lighting even if it isn't quite as iridescent as I had hoped. However, it has unexpectantly turned into one of my top three favorite shades because it is SO elegant and versatile that it will go with almost anything you wear. It has the classiness of a French manicure and looks great with my complexion, which is a medium tan (think caramel) but looks just as nice on my blond mother-in-law who has a pinkish pale complexion.

My husband and mother-in-law both compliment me when I wear it. You know it is NICE if you get compliments from them!

PROS: subtle iridescence, very elegant, discreet, versatile, good on any skin tone, enhances your hands and makes your jewelry stand out rather than the nails.

CONS: you need to wear two coats or one thick coat of it for it to be relatively opaque, so it takes longer to dry unless you use a quick dry top coat.

Suggest you wear a base coat first (CND Nail Stickey Base is awesome)New!! Cnd Nail Stickey Base Coat 0.33 Oz, then apply nail polish while the base coat is tacky , this will extend your nail polish's life incredibly. Once you apply the nail polish, use a quick dry top coat so it does not get smudged. This one is THE best one I own: Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat .5 fl oz (15 ml) Apply it about a minute after application while your nails are stick tacky so you can start using your hands five minutes later.

Love, love, love. Not AS wonderful as "Sand Tropez" or a couple of years ago's "Pink Parka", but stunningly pretty nonetheless. Perfect for spring! Those who haven't used Essie might need practice with application, as it applies differently than other brands (in my opinion). But once you get the hang of it (more paint on brush, several coats, watch easy streaking, top and botton coat necessary) you'll probably stick with Essie. Color lasts long and shades are really unique & often fashion-forward. Love this color. Highly recommend you try Sand Tropez too. It's my new favorite... I might rock it all April!

Color Name: Sugar Daddy
Essie has been my favorite brand for a few months now because the polishes last so long without chipping and make your nails very durable while they're painted. Until recently I had only used more unique colors (blues, greens, purples) but I really wanted to get a neutral that is more versatile, so I picked up Sugar Daddy.

It was much softer than I expected, and 2 coats wasn't very opaque. The color is definitely there and it covers evenly, it was just that I could still see where my nail separated from my finger which I don't personally like. I ended up using it as the base for a French manicure and it's stunning - the perfect color.

If you're looking for a soft opaque pink then you may want to try another - because even after 4 coats you can still see through to where the nail lifts from the finger.

One of my favorite things about Essie brand is that it dries pretty quickly. This particular color is thicker than the others, and starts to set FAST. I recommend making sure you have enough on the brush to coat the nail entirely on the first pass. Let it sit a couple minutes before the second coat. If you go back for more without waiting for it to dry a bit, you're going to gum up the first coat. As long as you work fast with it though, it's a really pretty purple.
