An original late 70's release from Cheo Feliciano, Estampas ranks highly amongst his solo efforts. The Ponce , PR native relocated to Spanish Harlem as a teen and began his career there. His voice was one of the few baritones in tropical music. His deep voice and ability to improvise made him a standout. He sang for various groups and went solo in the 70's never looking back. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This was Cheo's 1979 release (which he co-produced with Papo Lucca). Cheo gives some emotive and evocative readings on the boleros ("Lucero", "Cualquier Cosa", "Con Mis Memorias") and turns the heat up on the dance numbers ("Los Entierros, "Estampa Marina", "Desahogo","Asi Soy").This album is just great any way you look at it.

This album is a very full of emotion and its lyric content is just amazing. From death to poor people's lives, it covers and captures many feelings from Cheo that seem so real and authentic. Feliciano a self-confessed ex-drug addict really did an wonderful job with this album. "Desahogo" includes nice cuatro playing with a very native Puerto Rican trova sound. "Asi Soy" includes a great musical arrangement and nice soneos. "Lamento Guajiro" which includes Louie Ramirez on vibes and "Entierros" are also fantastic songs and a show of why they nickname Cheo "Sr. Sentimiento", frankly with this album you can see he earned it.
