The 4th edition is outdated, look for the 5th edition on shelves.
The book is the required text for the class I'm taking. We're about
half way through the book now.

Pluses:
1) Wealth of topics covered (no pun intended)
2) Very helpful short quizzes throughout the book and good review questions.
3)Explanations for Gift & Estate taxes are pretty well done. But there are still alot of details missing.

Minusus
1) Many of the chapters make references to topics that are not yet covered
2) Some of the reading is not clear. It reads like IRS documents.
3) Some of the summaries are not well written.

I used this book as a part of my class to study for the Certified Financial Planner exam. It must be good, I passed on the first try! Hopefully someday soon, it will help you too!
